EPL Banter Thread
Re: EPL Season Resumes.
Liverpool deserved it but enjoyed watching Man City's football more.
Chelsea bored me but (I hate to say it) Man U were quite entertaining towards the end of the season and deserved to qualify for Champions League.
At the bottom, happy that Watford went down but would have preferred Villa and their antiquated management team of Smith and Terry to have joined them.
Sheffield Utd did well and always looked the best team in the Championship last year. Wilder has a unique style but, I think he will be found out next season.

Re: EPL Season Resumes.
Two bits of news....
Arsenal won the FA Cup last night beating Chelsea 2-1 with two goals from Aubemayang after Chelsea took an early lead through Pulisic.
The controversial sending of Kovac meant that Chelsea finished with 9 men after Pedro went off injured.
This means that Arsenal now qualify for next seasons Europa League. Wolves now have to win this seasons trophy in order to qualify next year.
Eddie Howe has left Bournemouth after over 25 years as a player and manager.
Bit of a surprise as I thought he'd give it a go getting them back up next season.

Re: EPL Season Resumes.
I will be trying to change that for this season. No promises, but we'll see how it goes.mathusalah80 wrote: ↑June 24, 2020, 5:36 pmI have no doubt that all those football fans who, like me, experienced the pleasure of reading the regular insightful comments and interesting reviews posted by yourself and Zidine, before you both absconded to the more intellectually challenging, alleged football threads, now operating under the stewardship of Messrs. 747/taxifor/dezzer/GT93 , would be delighted if you both would post, even occasionally, your views on the EPL or domestic cups competitions, as you did in the past.
With some reluctance and trepidation I opened this thread at the suggestion of a small group of seriously minded, adult fans, who wanted to have one more try at having a football thread for the use of the Forum's serious fans. I spent considerable time & effort in putting together the lengthy opening post in an effort to kick start this thread. I admit I hold the view all my effort will prove to be a total waste of time. This because I feel certain that the aforesaid foursome, most particularly the ever trolling GT93 with his finely tuned penchant for deliberately stirring up unpleasantness (and then 'disappearing' , ), will be unable to resist destroying this thread, in the same manner as it's predecessors. Sadly their history, in relation to football threads, indicates they are certain of success.

Re: Poms and Their Soccer Teams
Just bumping (and necro-ing) this on-topic thread for potential continuation as the "Alternate EPL 2020/21 Season" thread.
Re: Poms and Their Soccer Teams
Soccer is a popular sport jack. If the Map can handle 4 or more Trump threads and 4 or more Coronavirus threads,it should be able to take 4 EPL threads in its stride.

Re: Poms and Their Soccer Teams
The Consolidated Jokes thread seems to run OK with blatant racism, sexism, and just about every other "ism" you care to name.
I guess those who are easily insulted steer clear of it, or others recognise it for what it is, and move on.
Given the tribal nature of the soccer fans, in my view there is room for an EPL thread along the same lines.
For those who are "insulted", and I deduce it is a very small minority, they could perhaps not wander into such a thread ..... given they are fully aware of its content.
And can stick to the serious thread.
And if they are inclined to hit the "Report" button, they could be reminded of such, and ignored.

Exactly. That's what this thread is for. Again, however, within reason.jackspratt wrote: ↑August 4, 2020, 7:56 pmFor those who are "insulted", and I deduce it is a very small minority, they could perhaps not wander into such a thread ..... given they are fully aware of its content.

Re: EPL Season Resumes.
Apologies for my delayed response, due to my having been hospitalized.
Therefore, an abbreviated response in providing my final summary of this season’s EPL.
No necessity to name the team of the season, indeed of the past two years is, of course, Liverpool.. Unfortunate, but understandable in these sad times, the performance of Klopp, and his-band of warriors, in sustaining such an outstanding level of performance over such a period has not been fully appreciated. But I am sure that will change, with the passing of time.
As to the Manager of the season there have been some impressive performances; all the more so in that all, with one exception, are still novices still very much in the learning stages of Management at the top level. Solskjaer appears to have resolved, at Utd., temporarily at least, the dressing room shambles he inherited from his predecessor; with the added bonus of grabbing the right to a place in next season Champions League competition.
Lampard’s performance, at Chelsea, in his first year in senior management, including clinching the remaining vacancy for next season’s Champions League, speaks for itself. Brian Rodgers also completely justified his surprise appointment, as Leicesters new manager; and could be considered a trifle unlucky to miss out on a top four spot.
Sheffield’s Chris Wilder, and Wolves Nun Espirito, I rate as the two major surprise packages, and I have high expectation each go on to carve out successful managerial careers, as their experiences grow.
My unreserved pick as the Manager of the season is Roy Hodgson! Any manager, in their seventies who, against all the odds, can manage to keep the sparse, mediocre Palace squad in the EPL for some four consecutive seasons, is totally deserving of this accolade
My golden boots selection is the irrepressible James Vardy who, pushing 33 years of age, continues to score consistently against many of the best defensive players in world football.
My selection for the most outstanding outfield field player is Shelvey of Newcastle. My admiration of his all round football skills and consistency throughout the season justifies my selection, and even further, my further view that he is worthy of a place in the England squad.
My selection for the season’s golden gloves is an automatic one, as it should be for anyone having even the slightest of football knowledge. It is, of course, Nick Pope, of Burnley.
So that’s it for this season, and Paul has confirmed this thread will now be officially closed.
Mat.

Why are some people very jealous of L F C I'm surprised 747 hasn't quoted any thing him being a staunch Everton fanatic.
