We welcome another new bowler into our pace attack. Good luck to him and the poms.

We aren’t getting to much from WA these days. They’ve go to contend with the rabbit proof fence. Even their big bash team can’t go home.
Should be a good start tomorrow. Either batting or bowling

Great start by the Aussies showing the way back to the dressing sheds quickly yo the 2 Pom openers.
Root has settled things down and in a mood to score runs. He is certainly focused on that elusive century.
England 2-60

RIP Ray Illingworth 1932 - 2021.

Couldn't the current mob of pretenders do with someone of his ilk in the side to put some fire in their bellies, and steel in their spines.
The future Australian captain, Greg Chappell, later wrote:

Ray Illingworth's England side in 1970–71 were mentally the toughest English side I played against, and the experience of playing against them first up in my Test career reinforced what I had learnt in the backyard. Test cricket was not for the faint of heart. Illingworth subjected us to a mental intimidation by aggressive field placings, and physical intimidation by constant use of his pace attack, ably led by one of the best fast bowlers of my experience, John Snow. Winning to Illingworth was something he expected of himself and demanded of his team.[11]

Yes, even I know of Ray Illingworth.

I see those England lads are forgetting their handbags when they come out onto the pitch against Australia.

Good to see the poms fired up this morning with 2 quick wickets.
Smith walks in to get his series century

And he's missed it.

Lunch: Australia 131-4 (England 185)

Good to see the word "struggle" used to describe this morning's Aussies for a change.

Much better than “capitulation” to describe the Pom batting yesterday.

Can’t think of a word with more than 5 syllables to describe this. I’m sure the sympathetic British press will think of one.
Shortest England innings in 117 years. But it’s only game 3.

Best debutant bowling at the MCG.
4 overs, 6 for 7

Well done to the Aussies for a relentless bat and bowl effort.

England were at least able to keep their booking at the local lawn bowls club, half price Tuesday lunch buffet.
