Well, we're out of our misery and India take the series. Quite why they felt they had to "prepare" the pitches for the 2nd and 3rd tests is open to debate. India were clearly superior in sub-continent conditions with our spin attack. Bess lost whatever action he had and Leach is nowhere near the Indians.

The return series in England this summer will be much closer.

And if spectators are back by then the Indians will have the "home crowd" advantage as well

You guys still have 3 50 over one dayers and 5 T20 games.
I haven’t read anything much yet as to how different your teams are for the shorter style.
England usually have a very good shorter version team.

Selectors are working on it ....

"Hubble "protective" bubble, toil & trouble, who shall we pick.

might as well choose a bunch of kids, they aint gonna do any worse, and will probably like being away from mummy for a few weeks :-$

Our A team are playing the short form game and will give India a bit of competition particularly as the hosts wont be doctoring the pitches. The likes of Morgan, Buttler, Roy, Ali and the Currans will return.

Some of us still love test cricket so it's a pity that the series was compromised by Englands' selections and India's lack of ambition.

Outstanding bowling performance by England in first T20 against India. Morgan used 6 different bowlers in first 9 overs and, captained brilliantly.

Knocked off the runs easily and England looked a different team (which they were!) from the test series

They used the Test series to get used to playing innings lasting 20 overs in the sub continent

India playing a dangerous game electing to bowl first.
The English are a good all round lineup and might take it away from the Indians.
Could be a 6 fest.

Stokes had better bowl as if his life depended on it ...... his friggin' lack of batting has already cost 20+ runs

Now I wonder if ANYONE in the England camp has realised how difficult it was to bat when India took the pace off ......probably not :-"

You picked it in one statts.
The cagey Indians use of the slow off cutter outside the off stump proved to be the English muscle hitters kryptonite.
They don’t seem to know how to just hit it around for singles and wait for the bad ball. Lots of dot balls.

If there was betting allowed by players there would have to be a serious look at Ben Stokes.
Batting was really slow (his "dot balls" caused Morgan to give his wicket away)
He bowled one over (inc the only "NO BALL" of the innings and gave up 17 runs from it
He dropped a "dolly"
Something tells me his mind was somewhere far away from India

Last chance of redemption with the 3 ODI games starting soon.

2 good teams in the T20 with small margins affecting the results. England and India will be the 2 favourites for the world cup. I expect India to win the ODI series. It's been a gruelling tour in current circumstances and there are some tired minds out there

Yeah. I can hardly imagine how tired I would have been if my boss had made me work for 5 days (alright 2& half as the rest is spent sitting watching someone else work) and then having to spend the next week or so sitting by the hotel pool whilst some other members of the "squad" were allowed to WORK and only paying me a small fortune for my efforts ...poor beggars

Samster your thoughts on India winning the OD games are on track. I watched the game and the house of cards batting team England have put together collapsed from what certainly looked like a big chance of winning to quickly being good night lads.
Yes they might have tired minds but they are still playing for their country and won’t have any hesitation in putting the old mit out for the paycheck. Not all of the team have been involved in all games. Still 2 games though for a chance at redemption. So good luck.

Very cynical views from Stats and Barney. The team have been on tour now since the start of the year. That's nearly 3 months in semi quarantine. You're right Barney that the squad has changed but, there are players that have been there for the whole time. Bairstow and Wood spring to mind. I seem to remember Buttler and Alli getting small breaks but, they would have been travelling with subsequent quarantines.

Even the guys who missed Sri Lanka (such as Stokes) would have been there 2 months now.

What I saw yesterday were some tired minds in an empty stadium.

Not looking for sympathy for them but, I'd give them a free pass for a whitewash this time.
