Queenslanders are all a bit quiet this morning, no?

Post by tamada » June 10, 2021, 9:11 am

State of Origin Game 1: NSW demolishes Queensland

NSW has pulled off a stunning 50-6 demolition of Queensland in Townsville to kick off the hotly-anticipated 2021 Origin series.

"The series opener kicked off at Queensland's Country Bank Stadium and it was the Blues that dominated early to take a 20-6 lead at halftime.

NSW put Queensland to the sword in a first half demolition job — and it continued early in the second half."

Well deserved win with some first time team selections by the blues that have unearthed great depth for the remainder of the series. Will wounded pride be enough for Qld to take it to a decider in Sydney.

No, a victim of bad timing. I was flying from Kandahar back to Bagram.

What part of Queensland are you from?

PS: I didn't vote in the US election or test Covid +ve either.

Certainly out of the blocks fast and they kept the pressure on. One to watch on 27th.

Sorry you missed it. It was a great game and certainly bodes well for the next one.
Queensland is definitely not my state. Born in the sky blue city and grew up in the southern suburbs on the coast.
Will be looking for a 3 blot series win.

I have to admit Queensland has a special place in my black heart as I spent most of my Australian work time there.

I was reading in other news that they were scraping ice off the windshields in Blackall yesterday morning.

Further north, humble pie was the order of the day at bakeries in Townsville.

Surprised the Blackall locals had any energy left for that after peddling their dynamos to keep the olde, black en white, HMV TV going through the game.

Series whitewash avoided. (The Blues used up all their whitewash in game 2).

From The Shire?
I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani

You have to admire the courage and endeavour, of all 34 players on the night (13+4 per Team)

They really did put on a show for the Spectators and Patrons, which ever side you follow. To do that, at that pace for 80 minutes, with only a 10 minute rest stint in between, is often hard to comprehend.

It always amazes me that, some low life arm chair critic, will get out of his/her seat, after the Game, and try and pin the result / outcome of the Game on one or two handling errors or mistakes, that arguably occurred during the course of that whole 80 minutes, and at the same time, expect a Game played that that pace, to be "Mistake Free".

All credit to ALL 34
