Back to the UK last Thursday in time for the weekends cancelled footie and now Sundays game at Old Trafford is called off 2 hours after I got my ticket. Only remaining game left to see is early October. All because a minority of Brits want to indulge in one of their favourite pursuits of wallowing in unwarranted nostalgia and self pity.
Speaking of self pity, who is wallowing in it now? And, for what? Oh yes, a meaningless soccer game. Your self pity is unwarranted.

As a colonial cousin Uncle, perhaps you are unaware of how seriously we Brits take our football, which is probably best summed up with a quote attributed to the late great Bill Shankley ....
"“Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more ..."
Unaware of how seriously SOME Brits you mean. The queues to pay respects to HM in Edinburgh in London would fill your average footie venue ten times over. All of them.

In that case. I am a worthless piece of poo who indulges in hypocrisy of the worst kind :D. I unreservedly apologise for any offence caused to my colonial cousin
Aw, that's so sweet.

Now, there's still some toys need picking up.

Not really. My life is full enough already to not have to worry about the cancellation of a football match. Nor will I wail and gnash my teeth over the death of someone who bears no relevance to my life. I think you'll find a very sizeable minority (being generous) of Brits just want to get on with their lives and not indulge in self flagellation.

Beware of mentioning self-flagellation around some members here.

Don't say that. Some members are liable to take you seriously.

But why in earth would you consider other people wanting to find that in the first place? I mean it's irrelevant, no?

Shankley wankley.
For info, the BBC reported last night that 33,000 people went to Edinburgh. Over 1m people attend football matches every week ignoring those who play, help and watch at grass roots level

Only 7 Week 8 fixtures will be played due to a train strike that has been called off, Leeds fans not being trusted to behave at Old Trafford and there being a severe risk that a section of Liverpool fans may commit the most outrageous sin and not sing or worse still boo the National Anthem at Stamford Bridge.

Football is relevant to me, yes. This is the EPL thread. I dont comment on the QE2 thread because that is irrelevant to me. Hope that helps

Predictions are being made far more complicated by team/players under performing. Most would be expected to improve on their early season form, but can they be trusted?

Villa 1 - 1 Southampton
Forest 2 - 2 Fulham
Wolves 1 - 3 Citeh
Newcastle 2 - 0 Bomo
Spurs 4 - 1 Leicester
Brentford 1 - 1 Arsenal
Everton 0 - 1 West Ham
