123,000

Post by marjamlew » March 31, 2023, 5:46 pm

Happened to spend a few hours at the Melbourne Grand Prix this morning and afternoon. People everywhere. 123,00 of them to be sure. Was a new record for me. The biggest sports crowd I have been part of previously was 115,00 at the MCG for the 1980 VFL Grand Final between Richmond and Collingwood.
Anyone been in a bigger crown than 123,000 at a sports event?

Not a sports event, but there were over 150000 of us in Hyde Park London for a Pavarotti concert in 1991, biggest at sporting event was sitting on my dads shoulders at Hampden Park to see Real Madrid win 1960 cup final (think that was 120+ thousand)
