Automobile Mechanic

Post by jingjai » March 18, 2006, 3:19 pm

Any recommendations on a good automobile mechanic in Udon area? In Jomtien I went to a garage that was owned and operated by a farang man who supervised a group of Thais. Martin, the owner, spoke English and is fluent in Thai. There was never any mis-communications. Any places like that around Udon?

Mechanics in Udon

Post by FrazeeDK » March 18, 2006, 8:22 pm

I've had good luck at the Udon Ford Dealership located near the Ha-Yak roundabout. They also have a new showroom and maintenance garage on Rte 2 south about 3 km outside the ring road. Since my truck is an American spec 94 Ford Ranger, I was surprised when the dealer very efficiently and cheaply did quite professional repairs to it. Of course, I have to get the parts in from Stateside but the mechanics are good..

they've done:

replaced A/C compressor and recharged system (5 years ago and still running strong)
water pump replacement/radiator flush/new fluids
brake job
replaced window lift motors.
general lube job
replaced shocks
diagnosed and fixed some electrical problems.

Thanks for the info. While we are the topic, my mechanic in Jomtien also had tow and roadside assistance available. As I said he spoke English and it was easy to explain where I was. Anything like that here in Udon?

I am also interested in vehicle breakdown/roadside assistance. Does anyone have it here?

Here's the numbers from the badge on my car for roadside assistance.
Land Line no; 1-800-555-000
Mobile no; 1-401-555-000
There is also another number but as the wife isn't at home just now I can't reed it. 0-2305-8444'
It costs about 1,200 Baht per year.

I'm sure one of these numbers will be able to direct you as to where to join.
