Bathroom at Global

Post by parrot » June 29, 2011, 1:21 pm

Yesterday while helping an Italian friend do some shopping at Global, I stopped by the men's room and found it in pretty typical Global fashion.....dirty, smelly, no soap.
I mentioned it to the girls at the customer service counter, got a few head nods, but didn't feel like they were going to pass it up the chain.
So this morning, I tracked down the customer service email address for the company and sent them a polite email comparing their bathrooms to places like Lotus, Index, Homepro, etc. I chided them for selling beautiful bathroom products but maintaining a restroom for their customers that's in disarray.
To my surprise, I received a reply within a few hours....quoted below.
I'm not saying the problem is/will be fixed, but at least I feel like I've got the company's attention. Next time I'm there, if conditions are the same, I'll take some photos and forward them to their customer service email.
Progress sometimes comes in small steps.

Well done

Can we send you a list of the next 5 places to work on ... LOL

St Mall toilets have a serious iron water stain there, and lack bathroom accessories, etc

I jocked to them last weel about it, asking for a discount, on the new products lol

I wasn't to supprise to hear about the feed back. Large stores like Gobal want yours and my business, not much different then where we come from. But what did supprise me was the excellent english.

"excellent english"

I always thought Global House was an internationally-owned company (like Lotus/Carrefour), but looking at their corporate website, it's Thai owned. While the store has its faults, it's very similar (IMO) to places like Lowe's and Home Depot in the US.....one-stop shopping.......and I appreciate not having to worry about paying more for construction materials than the natives.
When we built our home many years ago, there was no Global in Udon. We had to buy our 6 interior solid wood doors at 3 different locations......the price wasn't marked at any, and it almost always took the owners a few minutes to 'tell' us the price. Naturally, the price varied for the same door from store to store.
You can go to Global on almost any day of the week at almost any time of the day and there's a good number of cars in the parking lot or it's nearly full. Not too many other businesses in Udon (other than Lotus/Big C) can say the same thing.
Have soap will travel!

Ministry of Public Health Competition

Post by Geoffrey » July 6, 2011, 10:41 pm

The Ministry of Public Health has sponsored competition for the past few years for clean public bathrooms. They have a book of photos of the beautiful winners.
Udon Map had a post about this a few years ago http://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/l ... t2800.html Thailand actually has pretty good public toilets - compared to China.
