Re: This Week's Shopping Deal
Opposite of a deal. I know what to buy where, and always scan for big discounts on my regular items as feed a family of four.... Villa, Tesco, Makro, Tops, and even Cheese2MeatU. Each has its deals and merits.
Have long preferred certain produce at Villa, knowing I pay a premium for it. Wednesdays they receive new stock. Today a few items went up by as much as 50% per kg. Said due to floods. I can live without those items until prices drop.
Anyone else notice?

Look on the bright side rct at least the products are still there ......... in UK they have been replaced by a cardboard picture of food
Re: This Week's Shopping Deal
But here in Udon , at the Royal Project Shop in Central , the shelves have been bare ( almost empty) for 10 days.
Is there a direct link to recent flooding in the Chiang Mai area ?

Re: This Week's Shopping Deal
What food shortages? I've been in darkest Lancs for almost 6 weeks now and I am still putting on bloody weight! I usually shop at Lidl with no empty shelves sighted and compared with previous visits, items are packaged in larger amounts or 2-for-1 packs. I have also raided Asda, Sainsbury's and M&S for food stuff and apart from the usual stuff like bread selling out early, there's loads of choices. I've read about more veggie shortages at Tesco... sorry, Lotus's in Udon than I've ever seen here and I spread my shopping around three towns.stattointhailand wrote: ↑October 27, 2021, 2:12 pmLook on the bright side rct at least the products are still there ......... in UK they have been replaced by a cardboard picture of food
I'm beginning to think these spurious 'shortages' are being invented by unidentified entities to spur the dim and gormless into panic buying and the media getting the public needlessly in a froth over nothing. They're flailing away at the Tories but after about a week, and just like the lack of lorry drivers, the 'shortage' mysteriously evaporates. So they go and invent another one. There was a recent, popular rumor that there would be no mince pies for Christmas but stacks of them on the shelves at Iceland in Lancaster yesterday. There's a new one about a lack of warehousing space in the breaking news but it's not getting much traction. I mean if there are shortages on supermarket shelves (and there isn't) and there's a lack of drivers (and there isn't) and warehouses are full, what's the bloody problem?
I'm not buying it.
PS: Didn't see any petrol shortages up here either. Mind you I winced at coughing up 50 quid for some E10 the other day. That's about 66 baht/liter now.

Re: This Week's Shopping Deal
Well, maybe Lancashire has enough of everything. Here in Surrey and Hampshire we had 2 weeks when 50% of the petrol stations were closed ( which ones were closed varied day by day). Supermarkets generally only had minor shortages (up to about 5% of items not in stock, often other products on the shelves). What was notable was the range of products in certain categories has shrunk - brands which i used to buy just never stocked anymore. Not certain if this is due to Brexit, Covid or global supply issues. Also quite a few businesses have closed down since i was here 2 years ago. Anyway, not a problem anymore, as flying back November 1st, got my COE yesterday.

Not special price but rarely available at an individual Project Shop Central Plaza. Very sweet. Better than your vitamine supplement.
