Grey water line
Grey water line
I've got a 4" PVC line carrying grey water out from my house that is 90% blocked 10 meters in and need someone with a decent "snake" to clear it. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Try pouring heaps of hot water down it.

Re: Grey water line
My family used caustic soda which they bought in a local hardware store to do exactly what you need and it worked a treat,
The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

When my place was built I had a "fat trap" installed. Needs cleaning out every 3 months but avoids blockages.

I was going to suggest the same, but take care(hands, eyes), it's powerful stuff.vincemunday wrote:My family used caustic soda which they bought in a local hardware store to do exactly what you need and it worked a treat,
Re: Grey water line
Most of the hardware stores stock a flexible hosing known as a 'mole" in various lengths that effectively remove most of my blockages but once I had a serious block caused by a bar of soap dropped down the toilet and I got the local toilet emptying wagon to suck it out . Worked a treat in just minutes.Baht Man wrote:I've got a 4" PVC line carrying grey water out from my house that is 90% blocked 10 meters in and need someone with a decent "snake" to clear it. Vinegar and caustic soda will clear it

After trying numerous methods, I got a guy out with a large electric snake.
Turns out after 10 meters in (where I thought the blockage was) the snake came back showing clay.
Pipe must have broke somehow, but at least the water is flowing out now.
Eventually It'll have to be dug up and replaced.
Thanks for the info. guys

Re: Grey water line
Cut the pipe at the blockage area and put in an inspection opening, T piece with a screw on cap, that will give you a permanent clean out point, if you have decent water pressure your garden hose opened fully and ramming it down the pipe should clear it, it will more than likely be a huge hair ball from the shower.
Re: Grey water line
The pipe was probably broken from an earlier electric eel clean out....
