British brand tea bags
British brand tea bags
Where is the best place to buy the likes of Yorkshire Tea/PG Tips/Typhoo in Udon Thani?
Given the number of Brits in the area there must be a steady supply somewhere!

I think the largest selection under one roof (and on the same shelf) is at Cheese 2 Meet U on Nittayo.

Re: British brand tea bags
Farmworkers from Kenya are suing one of the world's biggest tea producers for damages in Scotland. The tea pickers allege they suffered severe health problems as a result of working on farms operated by James Finlay Kenya Ltd. The firm is part of a multi-national company whose roots lie in 18th century Glasgow.

Re: British brand tea bags
Last time home brought back 400 Tesco, Scottish Blend tea bags. Makes a great cuppa even in Thailand's harder water. Sadly never seen over here on sale.
Re: British brand tea bags
Hard water? Dont think so. When back home, used to get lime coated around the kettle element.
Here, that never happens!

This whole region is basically limestone, hence the caves and spectacular sea columns around Phuket and Vietnam. Water filtered through limestone is on the hard side of the scale as opposed to water filtered through peaty organic matter which is on the soft side of the scale.
General guidelines for classification of waters are: 0 to 60 mg/L (milligrams per liter) as calcium carbonate is classified as soft; 61 to 120 mg/L as moderately hard; 121 to 180 mg/L as hard; and more than 180 mg/L as very hard.
Most drinking water in Scotland is classified as soft
Chalk or limestone rocks contain the greatest amount of these minerals, but they are not common in Scotland, so most water supplies are classified as soft. Having hard water means that it will take more soap to form a lather.
Not going to argue with you about where your water comes from, but normally if you use filtered well water its going to be hard, is you use rain water its going to be softer.
By back home can we assume you came from down south with its extensive chalk deposits etc.
Re: British brand tea bags
Lime scale IS calcium or magnesium, usually as carbonate......

Re: British brand tea bags
I find the water quite soft here.
Back in the UK we lived in Wiltshire & the water was so hard the plumbers had to go round in pairs
Age & treachery will always triumph over youth & ability

Re: British brand tea bags
Easiest way is to get someone in uk to buy and post for you . price in thai is obscene . Tesco uk 240 pg tips pyramid t bags 240 for about 140 baht . buy 4 boxes 960 t bags for 560 baht plus about 800 baht postage and still massively cheaper than buying them here . did it 2 years ago and nearly out now so will order more soon
