The bungalows look great, and a good base if you want to explore Ban Chiang and Kamchanod, without having to stay in Udon.

I have a house in the next village, Ban Yang, and I drove by the place to have a look. First of all, there is nothing going on in Ban Muang, why would anyone spend a holiday there? If they have any guests, it must be people who have a wife in the area and have problems sleeping on the floor and problems using squattoilets.
I think it's a frenchman who build the place for his wifes family, the wife also have a small supermarket in Nong Han, and she comlained about few, but none guests in the resort, and she was about to give up the super as well, Tesco Lotus is planning to open in Nong Han, which probably will kill many local businesses.
Well, Happy is clean and new, but not much to do, I forgot to ask the price.

Welcome to the forum Bugs.
You have hit the nail on the head, they are not for long term holidays. People who like their home comforts, and privacy. There is nothing worse than waking up in the middle of the night, breaking your neck for a pi$$, and having to walk through the house in the dark, trying not to wake all the family sleeping on the floor, and sliding through the mud outside in the rain, to the breeze block lavvy.

The planned Tesco for Nong Han is a scaled down version, not the same size as the store in Udon, it will probably kill off most of the Mom and Pop shops, within a 20/30 minute drive radius. As far up as Bandung.

Marmite, quoting BugVid as Einstein wrote:Looks really nice - anyone know what it would cost for a couple of nights with wife and two young kids?

I think "The Dog" is assuming rather a lot. Lee originally posted this in May 2008 while BugVid asked for costs in February 2009. If I take my shoe and sock off, I estimate that's a full 9 months since costs were last published, thus BugVid had a relevant question, especially in the current economic climate. It's also rather unfair to pick on a new boy by calling him Einstein, is that how they do things at Teak Door? BugVid never posted again, that's a shame, the famed knowledge base failed its customer base.

Where is the Happy Resort? Is it peaceful or is there a main road nearby. I would appreciate any info, thanks in advance.

Check out the 'photos and details provided by Lee under Happy Resort. Ftrom Udon you travel the Route 2 Chiang road until you get to a left turnoff approximately 4/5 kms before Nong Haan. The bungalows are excellent, the large swimming pool is maintained in sparkling condition. It has the added benefit that the pool is NOT open to anyone and everyone, and so can be enjoyed to the full. The lady managing the resort (and the well stocked on site village shop) is pleasant and very helpful. The resort is situated well away from the main road, in a small village. It is definitely the place to go if you are looking for somewhere that you can relax, and are someone who enjoys some peace and quiet. We have stayed there on three occasions and have returned home mightily refreshed. We are selfishly hoping not too many people will discover our little 'getaway' secret, thus leading to it becoming just another overly commercialised resort among the many. The telephone number is 089-6210410 (Thai language needed). Mathusalah.

Afterthought, does anyone know if any of the units have 2 bedrooms?
