A Motorcycle puncture repair is just 20bt or 70 baht for a new tube, these prices include labour too. Sometimes I feel so guilty paying so little but if that's the price then I'm not complaining.

There is an excellent crash repair shop about 10 km before you get to Nong Khai.On the far side of the road you will see a Honda car showroom with a huge sign.Carry on driving until you reach the next pedestrian bridge over the road.Under the bridge is the crash repiar shop. You cannot miss it as there are dozens of cars out front.

Front wing smashed into a bollard. In shop for three days, looks perfect,2000 Baht.

Washing outside and cleaning inside. Tried place at Tesco, not sure but think it was 450. Yesterday, TW suggested a place for same, seemed to do a better job, also washed engine, (tesco place wanted more for engine) cost 100 baht. It might have helped that she knows the people, not sure. Noticed they had a good brand name synthetic oil, so in future will get it done there. While there, we mentioned was looking for remote entry system, they showed up with four different ones, while I was still there, (picked one for 2800 baht). Will have that done at the same time as oil & filter. Hope oil & filter are less than quoted above, seemed high!

Well Paul was thinking it might not be allowed, but I guess I did say Tesco.

It is not far from Tesco, on the road to Nong Khai and it is on the left. Seems like everything is on the left, (wonder if that has anything to do with driving on wrong side of the road ), I would be guessing at this time, but I would say less than 1 km you take a little side road, go down it 500 feet and it is on your left, if you get this far, you can't miss it. Set in maybe 100 feet!

Sorry about mixing the km and feet. If it is of interest, you can email me and I will get better directions and a name.

Dakoda, can be even cheaper if you use non synthetic oil. :) I choose to do so because i run two air conditioning compressors which puts a lot of strain on the engine.

As for a full car valet with wax and engine clean,140 Baht. Also free collection and delivery here. :)

Car valeting/washing/cleaning

Post by arjay » October 8, 2005, 12:39 pm

For car valeting I use, either:-

Makro - 100 baht - inside and out - on the left as go into the Makro car park.

PTT garage - 120 baht - inside and out - the garage with the Amazon cafe adjoining, just after the Big C intersection, on the Khon kaen road. You can have a coffee while you wait. :)

didn't want to start new topic, but falls under cost if anyone knows availability. need a tow truck or flatbed for long haul car transfer. car is presently in phon/khon kaen. anybody have any idea if available or cost for someone to go fetch my car. easy to find, at gas station on main road 15kms south of phon. thanks in advance.

while at it, a possible stupid question, but i didn't check and can't find on internet. the idiot light (yea yea yea) for battery, does that simply mean the battery is dead or charging system. real question, is there a seperate light for charging system, or does battery light all that's available, thus telling you dead/dying but not why, simply battery/cables, or actually alternator/generator light available. 1988 mit. galant, if anyone knows, where's our motorheads at, thia 1 on/thethailife.

LA, know nothing about a 1988 mit. galant - but the battery light just means it is not charging. So it could be the alternator or just a loose or a corroded cable. Should be no problem driving it, except at night. Does it go out when you shut everything off, like radio, AC, lights.......

You forgot to mention that it could just be the battery had decided to give out it's final volt of energy and gone to wherever dead batteries go  , probably the alternator though :)
