Well it won't be on @THAIAIR As they were going to try it 15 or so years ago but then dropped the plan,Now even Closed their Manchester Booking Office....I Doubt it will be on BA Either as they can't even fill their flight out of LHR & That is their MAIN HOME BASE !! So If the route gets the Go Ahead it will probably be on the likes of Thomas Cook or Thomson Airways.....NO Thanks,It's a Bloody Long way to be cramped up on either of those Airlines....

I doubt any airlines is 'filling' their long-haul flights much more than maybe 85% and the travel market and global economy was a different beast 15 years ago and airlines business models have adapted to fit. Thomson has 767-200's and Thomas Cook pools their A330's and 767's but Thomson's 2-4-2 @ 33 inch pitch seating configurations is a bit surprising compared to Thomas Cook's 31 inch "kneecapper" which is similar to most other mainstream carriers.
I agree that the non-stop option isn't really comfy unless one can afford the 'front of the bus'. Manchester is served by several of the mid-east carriers already and I heard that Qatar was the pick of the bunch. Of the others, Emirates and Etihad have started shoehorning whole rows lengthwise into their planes that makes for some frightening center-seat options.

Interesting. By what criteria?
I just did a quick matrix search and Oman are priced similar to Emirates and Etihad. I didn't see Qatar so maybe they have dropped that route. Surprised to see Swiss and Lufthansa beating the mid-east airlines by 3000-4000 baht r/t as well.

Re: Oman Air.Only about 1 Hour Transit in Muscat both ways,I Flew them to LHR Last April & june Could'nt fault them in anyway.....Yes I See Swiss & Lufthansa are offering quite reasonable fares, But I Don't like Swiss as a number of years ago I Changed a flight with them BKK-ZRH-MAN by 1 Day & When I checked in they said I Had'nt & Almost left me at Don Muang Although I Had the confirmation that I Had changed,They still denied me boarding until as they said EVERYBODY Else had checked in & Suddenly they told me " Oh Yes 1 Seat Available,So you can Board now " Funnily enough my PRE ORDERED Diabetic Meal was served to me on the flight !!!!

When you say "a number of years ago," remember that the former Swissair ceased operations in 2001 or 2002. You're now talking about a different carrier, Swiss International Airlines.

Their layovers and overall flight timing looks good. And their Muscat-Bangkok sectors are on a DreamLiner. Muscat must be one of the quieter airports too. They get into MAN earlier than the others which means getting the rental car, getting on the road and being home in Lancaster well before midnight is an option. I have been using KLM but their service gets more dire every time I fly.

Qatar still do flights into Manchester on the Dreamliner (which I'm not a fan of compared to the A380). Then on the Doha to Bangkok leg you get either the A380 or 777.
..Actually they have also started direct flights from Doha to Phuket, Chiang Mai and Krabi (which has just started or is just starting). Decent airline and quite easy to get decent benefits with their rewards program after several flights (lounge access, priority check-in, extra baggage allowance, etc)

Qatar are Rip Off Merchants,They charged me 375.00 Pounds to change a flight 18 Months ago from LHR to BKK .....

Right, I got that. You undoubtedly had a restricted ticket. There are often steep fees for changing these tickets. In exchange for paying a much lower price than that of an unrestricted ticket, you give flexibility. It's the same on nearly all airlines, although the fees differ from airline to airline.

Paul, Not as you say a Restricted ticket infact it was a Discounted ticket original flight was ex LHR On December 31st that I Changed to December 24th to try & see Santa Claus whilst inflight....

I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that all discounted tickets have restrictions.

All tickets I've ever bought from any agency or web portal other than from the airline directly have had some sort of restriction applied. It could have been anything from something minor like 90% mileage credit on the frequent flyer on a relatively expensive ticket to no cancellations or name/date changes whatsoever for a heavily discounted ticket.
Our latest tickets were 45% cheaper than the airline but I only get 25% mileage credit & no cancellations or name/date change. Its all in the T&C's. You pays your money & takes your chance

Nothing wrong with buying Qatar Airways super saver tickets but you have to stick to the itinerary or you will get hammered for any changes.
There are loads of options with Qatar Airways to avoid excessive charges for changes and unless you are a complete div you can avoid getting hammered.
I suggest you get a travel agent to get your tickets in future as you are incapable of getting your flights requirements right.

Looks like they were not available for the date range I initially selected (show only flights with available seats option selected) as I bumped the dates out by 10 days and Qatar showed around 27,000 baht r/t.
