Went by today and noted that the u-turn at the pointy end had been removed and they reopened the one just north of it, blocking off the outside lane accordingly. Also noted today that they have extended the northbound 'fast' lane closure with blocks further towards the traffic lights in preparation of the tunneling team moving in their heavy plant. Looks like 2-lanes will be the order of the day for the next, oh, I don't know but based on the KK and Pattaya tunnels, maybe 3-4 years?

Due to be complete on 1 September 2019. t.i.t. I'd expect workarounds to be changed on a regular basis to try and keep traffic flowing around the construction.

Just worked out a route through the potholes that will get me from Nong Khai road to come out near Global House lights for when the direct route gets undrivable. From there its via Nong Sim and into town (assuming its not DB school clusterf*** time)

Macca, with this route, it will only take one other (from opposite direction) to cause a C/F on these tracks

so, with this large infrastructure project fouling up traffic, where is the "outer ring road" and the other east side bypass that have been in the plans for years?? Those routes would alleviate the problems encountered with this bridge/tunnel project.

I know that had a stakeholders meeting last January or February at the Siamgrand hotel. Neighbors kid attended but I never followed up on what was said or planned.
Pretty much going to place Irish George on the southbound side if it comes through between the ring road and Nong Sai as planned.
There's plenty wasted space with these wide central medians on the east ring road. They could easily add a third lane each way. Otherwise there's just going to be longer tailbacks at the Sam Phrao, Nongsai and Sakhon Nakhon traffic lights.

North bound lane nearest the median now blocked north of the junction towards KK. Watch out when turning right towards KK from the east side ring road as suddenly 3 lanes become 2 and there's merging stuff flying in from the Tesco-Lotus side too. On Friday night it took me nearly 30 minutes to get from Global House to the Nong Khai road junction. I thought it was maybe because of the work ripping up the hard (and not so hard) shoulders on the ring road, as now happening on both sides. It didn't help, but the main part of the problem was a lane (and a half) blocked off immediately after the lights on the Nong Khai road, Result was bottleneck on all Nong Khai bound traffic (which makes up typically over half of the ring road traffic coming from Global house direction) let alone what comes from the other 2 ......
I think in future a detour through town will be preferable!

Did a double-take today when I saw the red and white 'turn restrictors' had been totally removed from the u-turn just east of Tesco-Lotus on the north ring road. First they had them blocking off the 'fast lanes' which caused accidents, then they were moved to permit 3 lanes each way but stop the multiple vehicles turning at once which worked great. Now they're gone completely so back to a 3-way, 3-abreast free-for-all.
I reckon some business(es) down Phibun must have sprung for dinner or two for the city traffic planner.
Or looking at google earth, maybe they're going to use that as part of a bypass for the inevitable blockages at the traffic lights.
