I downloaded the app ( Google playstore )

Has Eng language

Spoken to Khun Thai and its 50 baht from Condo block in Srichomchun Road to Tawadang at 2300 hrs

Can pay cash , new car for that trip.

Have used this taxi service both bike and taxi in HCMC Vietnam and it has taken off gang busters.
Bikes are the big winner overt there as the cars are up against cheap metered cabs in Vietnam. They are required to be uniformed, supply a helmet, have full insurance, have a good bike and trained. Book by the app. Booking fee and then per km after the initial distance.
Would be a boon for UT.

I now have number of standard taxi that will pick me up and take me to the complex for 200 Baht.

I live about 5 km outside ring road

BKK isnt the issue 747.

Its Udon and their practices.

Sticking a meter on from where they depart to go to your pick up.

No use of meters at all.

I thought all bkk taxis only had 3rd party insurance cover also...

If Grab officially comes to UT it will be a legal taxi service. They will be a registered company. Not just anyone can start up driving.
Read their website.
Competition would be good compared to what is offered now.
Maybe all these good reports lately about UT taxis is because the writing is on the wall. Shape up or ship out.

Grab is superb, efficient and less cost than the normal taxi bandits.
Example, from house to airport usually paid 200 Baht each way, using Grab only 60 Baht !
This morning getting off plane booked one via the app and by the time I was roadside it was there.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left

I would guess Grab, Uber, Udon taxi would all be insured like all the song taews and tuk tuks and sam lors before them.

Change of plan yesterday but used the Grab service last night at 2230 hrs

Brilliant

Logged on, and booking confirmed, the driver rang me within 1 min to confirm my location and update ETA.

New Mazda 3 arrived, fitted with front dash cam and a very polite and fluent english speaking driver arrived. About 30 YO

I confirmed where I wanted to go, as it wasnt on the drop down menu, not an issue at all

Price quoted was 50 baht from Srichomchuen Road, next to Fluid / Cafe Amazon / Oshin to Nongprajak.

Safe driver, seat belt worn and passed over 100 baht, immediately went to offer change, happy to tip him the 50 for a fantastic service provided.

2 mins later, email receipt arrived and a pop up menu to rate the driver.

Says he generally finishes work at midnight....

Couldnt fault the booking, journey management, safety and polite driver

Gave him 5/5 rating

A tuk Tuk comparison is 100 baht, say no more

ok, used these guys again tonight, Sports Bar to Oshin/ Fluid on their bookmarks

Booking confirmed for 50 baht and 15 seconds later the Driver rings to confirm location, he knew Pannari Hotel, 50 meters away.

Arrived in 5 mins, Car ( Kittied out ) LOL my pigeon Thai and his Pigeon English got me over the line for exact location and dropped off outside my home.

Again, gave him a 100 B note and immediately went to give change, for me left the 50 baht with him

Excellent service, Door to Door, and a good / safe journey management transit.

Update

Their vehicles will drop off and pick up at the Airport with out any issues.

I have found a few times, that 1600-1700 hrs they dont have as many cars available, 1 driver says because of the traffic jam in the CBD and surrounding feeder roads etc

Many comments that Aliens / AKA farang AKA expats are using the service.

Did not actually book to see if cars truly available, though checked fares from near Wazza to the airport....50 baht! Beats the usual 200 baht I pay. Will certainly try the real thing next tie flying in or out.

Where does the taxi pick you up at the airport? I assume when you confirm the booking, you get the cab rego and watch for him in the drop-off/pick-up zone? So booking the pick-up time is essential (add an extra 15 minutes?) as he won't be allowed to wait if your flight is late or the baggage claim is slow?

Imagine so....

Confirm you get driver picture and vehicle details on confirmation of booking.

They generally ring to confirm all details. So could discuss detailed pick up time and location

As mentioned, this is what I did last time :
This morning getting off plane booked one via the app and by the time I was roadside it was there.

Basically while waiting for the plane's door to open I booked Grab - easy
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left

Cool guys, thanks!

I have only used it once before a couple of years ago to get a Pattaya taxi to pick up Mrs tam from downtown and take her back home after I got stuck at immigration. The cheeky bugger whined all the way about how low the fare was... I guess HE didn't read the small print when he signed up. He didn't get a tip!

Just re-installed the app on my phone and the screen shots from the App store reminded me that you get the cab number and his picture when booking so I will give it a shot tomorrow night.
