Thai Airways Updates

Post by jackspratt » September 2, 2019, 5:17 pm

I have just received an email from Thai, notifying a range of changes from 1 October, including revised award and/or upgrade mileage charts.

If you were thinking of booking this way, it is probably worth checking.

One thing that jumped out for me - if you require a bulkhead seat for a baby bassinet, you will required to pay extra for a "preferred seat". I have not heard of other airlines doing this, and it is sure to create some howls (pun intended). :D

I know Air Asia for one charges for premium Seat choice.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left

Received an email saying their policy for Aussie checked in luggage has been changed back from 20kg to 30kg.
Great but only if you bought a ticket after August sometime.
Fair enough I guess as May purchase was pretty good value.

Thai Air is too expensive for me. I can find 10,000 baht less expensive flights on other airlines from NZ. I don't mind transferring planes and the opportunity to stretch my legs.

Maybe Thai don’t want cheap Charlie EZED customers. I was recently checking Thai air flights bkk to Auckland return with through flights to Chile if work took me there.
You can buy a Direct return flight Auckland to BKK for 1150 nzd. Up to 1300 nzd.
Can you show me any other direct flight airlines to NZ that cheap, Thai seem the only direct flight airline. Or even a one stop airline for less than 1150. Especially for the 10,000 bht less you stated with the added luxury of a many hour and plane change and Stopover.
I always prefer Thai and currently now have 2 future bookings Bkk to Beijing return the same price as Air China.
I know which airline I’d rather be seated on to and fro from Peking.

I lived in Beijing and Shanghai several years and flew to BKK once a month.
TG has more convenient departure times, that's the only advantage.

Worn-out planes, too many lazy and unfriendly flight attendants and cheapest food catered in Beijing. Arriving BKK terminal never by gate, always by bus.

TG was a good airline long time ago.
But that is the past.

Fly Air China once and you will never book TG again, especially to BJ

The new flight awards devaluate your mileage a lot.
For luck I had just enough miles left to get an upgrade to Europe which I booked after their announcement.
This will be my final flight on TG except no other choice.
I will not continue collecting miles on ROP, had Gold status with them for 18 years.

It is not surprising that they even are increasing their losses.

Well perhaps it’s changed recently, how long since you flew that route. I’ve just flown this year four return trips BK BJ with Airchina. I then fly a Airchina to Ulaanbaatar. Now flicked over to Thai. Better schedule. Better everything. I need the comfort as it is 1 leg of 4 I fly each way.

Airchina You gotta be pulling my leg. IMHO Airchina are 2nd rate. Food not served on a tray, just the food container placed on the dirty drop down tray. No entertainment. Much smaller cramped planes. It’s obvious who Airchina cater to on this particular route.
Each to their own and appreciate some may like that style of service.
I will say Beijing airport has improved though. Easy transit when internally changing flights.
I used to fly Tianjin BKK and Airchina were ok.
