Looks like Covid is the death knell for more than BA when it comes to long-haul, non-stop services. Flag carriers are doing code shares with the mid-east carriers who can more easily fill planes bound for the far east from multiple airports of origin in Europe and Africa and even the US west coast.

That makes TG the only non-stop? With their finances + omicron, that must be doomed as well. There are still decent alternatives using European hubs though. Just makes for a longish second flight sector.

You are ignoring the huge amount of face that risks being lost with the shuttering of the nation's flag carrier. Of course it wouldn't amount to a hill of beans in Biloxie or Gütersloh but to the locals here, it would mean darker tint on the windows for starters. They could try to sell it to the same mob that 'saved' British Airways but foreign ownership is even worse than the foreign management they shun.

Talking of basket case state airlines, I see Alitalia was finally interred only a couple of weeks back.
