Hello Rick Farang, I had a cornea replacement done 5 years ago with

Dr. Siriraksa Visaetsilpanonta, Retina Specialist Udon Thani General Hospital

She has a private clinic also Tel/ +6687222 3232 [email protected]

16/5 Panpraow , Ampoe Muang , Udon Thani, 41000, Thailand
(private clinic at the back of two rows of town houses on road just east of airport)

Her sister who was also a retinal specialist organizes the clinic. Very good.

Of course in the general hospital you have to deal with the crowds, waiting time and the doctors will have less time for you also may have to wait for operating room schedule, but once in the operating room finally everything is very similar to any hospital. (had one lens implant done there)

Otherwise the best alternative could be the pre-eminent eye hospital in Thailand, the Rutnin Clinic on Asoke Road in Bangkok. They have a good informative website.
Will cost the same as at other private hospitals but about twice the cost of Udon General hospital.

Rutnin clinic does have reclining chairs pre and post operation and tea and free foot massage and quick service.

Good luck, I have perfect vision as I can have now. :D

I finally got around to meeting Dr. Siriraksa Visaetsilpanonta at her clinic. I was impressed with her professional demeanor and that she apparently knew her stuff both forward and backward. I recognized her sister there. Her sister is also a retina specialist and I remembered her checking out my retina about 15 years ago (was tending toward Ocular hypertension at the time).

She gave my retinas a clean bill of health, pointed out the cataracts (yes, I see their effects all the time). Both sisters were very affable and a pleasure to spend time with. By the way, there was nobody in their small clinic other than the sisters, my girlfriend, and me. No waiting except for waiting for the darned eye drops to cause dilation.

I left with recommendations for cornea experts. Thank you for telling me about them.

Good info. Thanks for posting. Are you going to get cataract surgery? And if so, where?

ImageI had lens replacements late last year. It was a greater than two month process with recovery time between the two eyes, but the results are amazing. This guy is good, but his waiting room was very full in Sept through November and there is a lot of waiting involved, so bring something to read.
