medicine prices up

A bit of a shock, my statin medicine was up by 24% today. Talk about inflation, Pharma is gouging. Anyone else experienced similar recently?

Reviewing my meds purchases over the past year, apart from a single spike last autumn, it's a flat line with no changes.

Funnily enough, my recent purchase (500 Allopurinol tablets) went from THB300 to THB250.

I put it down to the fact they were loose in a bottle this time, compared to blister packs the previous time.

One small step for my wallet, one huge step for the environment.

Indeed Tam ......WD40 has remained the same... loosens even the tightest nuts.

I just been on a course of meds , first from Army hospital then sauced myself via the pharmacy on the corner of Ban Huay market .. price was close the hospital was slightly cheaper but the pharmacy quicker service and more convenient.

Fooolishly I spent several years believing that medicines would be a set price wherever you purchased, and gave money to Mrs Statts to get ea ch month (she was always afforded a B30 - B50 "discount" that strangely enough I was not given) About two years ago every month when she went in, she was told the same thing, sorry out of stock but will have tomorrow (even though they had sold the same items every month for about 4 years). I got p*ssed off with this, especially as one time, circumstances meant I had already taken my last tablet, so had to miss a day. About 18 months ago Mrs Statts was away and I had to get my meds. I got the usual be here tomorrow spiel, so I thought I'd call into another chemist not 100m away on the off chance they may have some in stock. Lo and behold they had all three of my meds in stock and without any "special discount" ie; farang price, it was still almost B300 cheaper. Needless to say the first chemist has now been saved the bother of getting my stock in every month from now on and the little guy over the road (although not as flash or spotlessly clean) is saving me about B3000 a year.

I use the pharmacy next to Global house on the ring road. Way cheaper than Ban Huay in my experience (at least for my meds). With no price increase for at least 12 months, was 'expecting' a change, but was not expecting a large jump.

I used Forte I think its called for some meds I have been on for a lifetime..as it was difficult during covid to have them flown in from the old country,
same chemical name, same color, but they nearly sent me over the edge..
matched one with my old meds, and the little writing on the capsule was different, and they were not pfzier ..
will not be taking anymore, and go back to postage from home

General ward ,not ICU. Udon cancer hospital was 5000b for 3 nights.cheap

Rick, I buy Atorvastatin 40mg tabs and was spending around 15 Bhat per tab in the street pharmacies. The price really went down at the Military Hospital in Udon, and now it's only 2.5 Baht per tab. It's a great bargain.

If i remeber correctly i had to pay a wopping 50 Bath to see the Doc at Military Hospital..disclaimer..could have been 150 Bath.Anyway you will not have to get a loan to pay the Doc's fee

Then you have to convince the doc that you only need 1 or 2 different tablets/meds and not the 7 or 8 he will want to prescribe. (if the first 5 or 6 dont work the 7th or 8th might do the trick)
