The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

Terrible news , Udon has lost a legend way too soon before his time.

I had the pleasure to know Doug from day one i arrived i Udon , shared some great memories crazy, funny and sad times together.

A very sharp sense of humour , a clever guy , an astute businessman both in Thailand and around the world.

Last time i saw him he commented how he loved what he had created at Leks ranch .. loved his dogs , horses n the big game fish.

A straight shooter and very protective of his friends and was always on hand to host a get together and offer any advice.

More than anything he was a good man ... lived for his family , one can not imagine what Lek and the kids are going through.

Our sincere condolences to Dougs family , friends both in Udon and around the world

RIP

Good bloke. Such a shock.
Years ago I procured both my Fila Brasiliara guard dogs from him. Always kept in touch as to their welfare. Loved his animals. Fantastic horse collection and his famous miniature pigs.
RIP Doug

There was a standing joke about the not so mini pigs .. it appears they grew n grew and were only mini when new born .. they used to get out n about all over town with Doug and were regulars at the Tap as was his female Fila pup who liked to slurp my cider ... i know that Dougie look Dean and i recall a Thai customer being not happy a pig was running around in the pub .. so i asked him to leave ...the customer i mean not the pig .

And a real nice pic here of Doug and his wing man Ren enjoying a pint , birthday cake incoming , we used to get quite intoxicated some evenings .. good times never forgotten..

so many more memories n pics from fishing , horse riding days ..

Doug's funeral will be held tomorrow in Sakhon Nakhon with Lek's family in attendance, unfortunately due to Covid they don't allow many to attend and as we are in a red zone it's difficult for us to go to Sakhon which isn't.

As for the cause of death I feel it's only right that I leave it to the family to tell you as and when they deem it right to.

I hope the funeral goes well and I send my deepest felt condolences to Lek, Sasha, Junior and the rest of his family.

Sleep well Doug.

What terrible, terrible news. Doug was one of the first people I met in Udon when I arrived in 2012. He was a true gentleman in all of our interactions, with a good natured and quick wit, and a strong and clear sense of right and wrong. A real loss for the Udon community.

Unfortunately I did not know this man, obviously well respected. RIP and condolences to his family.
Question, was he an UdonMap member, if so what was his tag?
