It might be worth having one thread called RIP instead of multiple threads each time some Neville kicks the bucket

I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani

No need for you to read it either
Some people may say it is irrelevant while others disagree. This is the art of discussion and that is the basis of a website such as Udon Map
As for a thread called RIP once you have set it up lets know.

Id always assumed the fact that there was an "obituaries" section was so as they all got grouped together, although I would like to see it divided into Udon related expats and every other minor celeb who most have never heard of.
Many times I see a name and wonder if its someone i know by sight but not name in Udon

Elmore Rual "Rip" Torn Jr. (February 6, 1931 – July 9, 2019) was an American actor whose career spanned more than 60 years

A good idea, maybe a third one called 'dead but who cares' or 'Thank goodness', I suggest my demise will be posted on such a thread

I consider the existing Obituaries thread is fina as it is. Typically, there's a link attached or a brief footnote if it's someone notable from public life.

I recommend that if one is still in doubt or unable to get to sleep as it might be that skinny guy with the bad combover, wonky eye and corduroys you sometimes saw in makro, ask DM as he knows EVERYONE.

I suggested some monhs ago hat a dedicated POST should be made o ensure that those who died could not only b remembered but also available to many readers easily and also suggested a PHOTO be attached ( that led to many moaning and groaning ) so those who have lived here for some time could identify and see those who have passed.

Sadly like many good ideas, nothing was done due in part to the over-zealous adminisration not wishing to upset anyone.

So we are back to square one and people wonder why I NO LONGER POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's no reason of which I'm aware why you cannot add photos (of the person while he was alive) to an obituary.

My father in laws brother has passed away this evening, 21st July. Unlike Tony Bennet he was a life long resident of Udon and will be missed by his family.

RIP. Will be heading to the village tomorrow morning to pay our respects.

Youn see there we go again, a good idea to avoid confusion and to create understanding about UDON Thani Expat demise taken and ridiculed by a normally sensible person .

One wonders why any good idea never works because of the way some people act and write. Sad but it is what it is . enjoy childish behaviour

Plenty of very helpful posts and useful advice, bereft of typos and pontification, get posted here on UM each and every day.

PS: Which Udon bar did Tony drink in?

I just mentioned that KP said he needs pictures. I didn't tell you or anyone else to specifically do anything about it.

Only occasionally do I need a picture as most of those who have recently passed I have met, however a picture can assist iso p[eople at least can see or even recognise a person who has passed, called politebness and in some cases memory jogging , those who decried my idea are saps.
