Some Things Are Better Not Translated

Post by parrot » December 8, 2021, 2:10 pm

If you fancy Thai snacks, you've probably tried one of those round toasty snacks often sold at major traffic lights. They seem to be popular with travelers, although they can't compare to the ones freshly toasted up at home. But there are some things best left unknown......or untranslated. Like, why your wife's somptom tastes so good but somptom from Bangkok doesn't. As it is with those toasty snacks made from rice and the ground root of the Paederia linearis Hook.f. plant. For some, the ingredients in Isaan somptom are better left unknown, as is the Thai translation for the Paederia linearis Hook.f. plant.
But then, even if you've never taken a class in Thai language, you probably know the meaning of ขนมตดหมา kha nohm dtoht maa
