Came across this rather comprehensive salary guide put together by Adecco, a large recruiting firm. Makes for some interesting reading. One thing that stands out is that quite a few of the professional positions, even some rather senior ones, make less than the 65,000 baht required for a foreigner retirement visa, and many do not even qualify for the 40,000 baht required for a marriage visa. Thus, a big factor making farangs attractive to the ladies looking for a mate.

interesting although the preface doesn't indicate where in Thailand it applies.. I'll assume Bangkok as in general you can subtract anywhere from 25-50% on salaries paid up here in Udon as compared to BKK...

Yes DK I also assumed Bangkok, since that is where most of their offices are located. All bets are off when it comes to Issan.

Thailand Salary Guide
My brother in law graduated from Udon Rajabat with a 4-year degree in Accounting about four years ago.
He finally landed a government job at a local (small) dam (where there are oddly about 10 full time employees)
His salary is a whopping 4,500/month.
I will never understand this place.
