Not News to Me

Post by parrot » April 9, 2014, 9:30 pm

When I arrived in Thai class today, my teachers almost leaped out of their chairs asking me if I 'heard the news'. I asked if searchers had found the missing Malaysian airliner....to which they replied, 'No, Udon news.'
Well, I thought for a second.....having read what I thought was Udon news last night, and said, "Oh, yeah, I heard the news......two Italian guys were busted."
That didn't register......so I asked, "What's the news?"
to which they replied excitedly, "The duck is back at Nongprajak...along with two smaller ones!"

The episode helped explain (to me) the plethora of Hello Kitty license plates in Udon.
