Was walking around the early morning market in town today and was observing the lottery sellers. Just sitting looking sad.
Asked the boss was she going to buy some tickets as I was feeling lucky being Christmas and all. She said the tickets come from Loei and the boss of tickets has put the price up from 80 to about 97 bht? And will now cost you about 120???
Hence my cheap Charlie boss said to expensive. I thought the price of tickets was set a long time ago at 80?
How much are you paying for a ticket at the moment?

Well I won 6000 Baht once and when I picked the winnings up in Prosi Rd I wasn't charged anything but when the girl who paid out took one look at the money and with a big smile on her face she she said " What you do tonight". Still makes me laugh.

C'mon

How much did she eventually get... ;)
Probably a Small portion!

I've come to the conclusion, having lived in Thailand for 25 years, that certain things aren't going to change in my lifetime: SRT giving up control of a bankrupt railway; Thai Air giving up control of a bankrupt airline; and the lottery control people giving up control of what's probably a very profitable business for those who control the distribution of tickets. Thus, the headline cited above reminds me that way back in 2005, the government contracted with Loxley to provide a lottery game service system. https://www.loxley.co.th/business.html/ ... ery%20Dept.
When the government reneged on the deal, Loxley sued......and the courts said the government had to pay 1.65 billion in damages......+7.5% annual interest since the filing in 2011. That's a chunk of change.

Yet another reason not to play the lottery here: A woman takes her mother to Kham Chanot......she (the mother) finds the lucky number on a tree there. Upon leaving the island, the daughter finds a lottery dealer at the exit with the desired number. She buys three tickets and stuffs them in her purse. The lottery is drawn, and as the tree predicted, the last three digits are correct. When the woman goes to claim her prize, she finds that the lottery dealer sold her tickets from a previous draw earlier in November. Right numbers, wrong date (expired)

My wife looks for license plate numbers on car crashes. I don't think that works, she very seldom wins anything.

I'll guess that most, if not all, vehicle accident reports in the press contain the license numbers of those who died. If there was just one death per province per day, that'd come out to 78ish per day and 1170ish per lottery draw or 1240 per month or 93600 Baht per month at 80baht per ticket.
Today, on the way out of the village, a pickup truck passed me and waved over a girl on a motorcycle selling tickets. Was it by chance or was it someone he knew.......I don't know.......but that's how some people pick their lucky number

Udon Football Club midfielder (whatever that is) admits to a major mistake in not buying the reverse of his shirt number 38. Anyone familiar with the voodoo involved in buying lottery numbers knows that if your number pick is, say, 38, then you have to buy the opposite.....83. Some die hards will buy upstairs 39, and downstairs 37. Then there are the addicts who buy upstairs/downstairs for the opposite number as well.

When I went for my noon noodle slurp yesterday.....just a few hours before the lottery draw, the soup shop was abuzz with everyone's predictions and picks. When I return in a day or two, I doubt anyone will be singing the praises for their lucky pick. t.i.t.

The fix is in.
You only pass through this life once, you don't come back for an encore.
