Medical can be done in Udon by a Hospital nominated by your Embassy. Police clearance must be done in person in Bangkok !!

I think it depends on what country your applying for, if its the US then it is Bangers or Chang Mai for the medical report, they will give you the report same day. As Ard said the police is only done in Bangers and they will post it to you in 10 days or so.

i would call the embassy and ask them exactly what is needed, what type exam, as udon may not be up to speed on it. remember my 1st drivers license, AEK udon gave me medical, w/Driver's License Medical on heading. refused by license office, a wasted 100 baht, only to be referred to local clinic, that charged me 30 baht with no exam.

so ask the ones who have to approve what you submit. they may even have a medical form for doc to use.......good luck. 8)

what county ? and please keep us informed how it all goes, could be a very valuable thread for some of us, debating to stay or not. crossed my mind a couple times, till my priorities kick in.

australia, good, seem to be a bit more lenient than say usa. a long and tedious process for usa, from what i understand, 9/11 simply made things even worst.

Just one last tip, the police check is free but a small donation may be asked for to expedite the process 8-[

Not sure about that LA, I have helped out on a few applications now and the only one refused was to OZ
But they certainly give a greater number of hospital locations than the US which only allows 3 in total, 2 in BKK and 1 in Chaing Mai.

You don't have to wait for your Medical report it's sent by courier direct to the Oz Embassy (you don't get to read it). My wife had hers done at BNH Hospital in Bkk, the price 5 years ago was Bt1,100 and when I said cash they asked me if I wanted a Coffee while I waited :D it took only 1 hour and we were out heading for the Airport and Udon. Police clearance was easy, took 30 mins and Bt 200. To bad the Embassy aren't that efficient :(

Along with the medical check, which encluded chest xray for TB, my wife had to get some inoculations that were required. Make sure you wife to be takes any official inoculation records, from hospital/doctor, with her when she has the exam, cuts the cost a little.

Hi
Anyone reading this from the UK needs to go to BKK I am afraid ,, when I done all the ol mularky for my missus I paid for all her medical ,, TB tests etc at Udon ,complete waste of money ,,,,,, I then had to pay for 2 weeks hotel and travel to BKK for her tests ,,,,they made her test TB every morning for 7 days at 6am ,, and guess what it was all clear ! ( I do think however the UK gov is giving instructions to all non EU Countries to make it as bloody awkward as they possibly can so people either give up or run out of money or both ) good luck to all

If u had to get a sputum test at 0600 every day for 1 week, they are scamming u, a chest x ray or a mantoux test is all thats necessary, UNLESS 1 of the last 2 tests are positive and then u do a sputum test.
