Help buying a Gas Cooker

Post by treehugger » October 20, 2010, 1:18 pm

20 October 2010

I am looking for a traditional style stand-up home gas cooker, with four rings of different sizes on the top, and an oven underneath. I have seen one somewhere, but can’t remember where it was!. The price was about Bht 7,000.

I am not interested in separate hob units, nor industrial sizes nor prices over Bht10,000. Can anyone help? :D

Power Buy in Big C, next door to Siam Commercial bank. I think the price is listed at 8900bt.

We've had this stove since 2004.....bought it for 5400 Baht from the multi-story appliance shop, Udorn Saengsathid Co. (บริษัท อุดรนแสงสถิตย์) between the fountain circle and the clock circle. There used to be a guy on the third floor (appliances) who spoke excellent English......don't know if he's still there. You can usually bargain a few hundred baht off the price. They deliver.

I was at that shop about a year ago and only saw a larger General Electric that went for nearly 30K. I wonder if they can order the one in your pic. What's the model # ?

WGR-30J. And, I paid 5600 Baht for it (not 5400) in Nov 2004. Once a year or so, I take it outdoors, scrub it down, touch it up.....it's good for another 10,000 pots of tom yam.
I seem to remember seeing one in Makro a year or so ago.

Yes the one at Makro was a Sanyo model and cost about 5K, I don't think they carry it any longer as I haven't seen any in over a year. The one at Power Buy (I posted earlier) is under 9K, I think it's a Sanyo but not really sure.

Thanks for the info.

The oven/cooker at Power Buy and Carrefour are the exact same models, Power Buy is priced at 8900bt and Carrefour is priced at 5600bt. The one Kopkei posted is priced at 9500bt and very similar to the one at Carrefour/Power Buy.

Good thread, it's convinced me to purchase a cooker.

We have got through half a dozen turbo convection ovens, the glass bowl things with the fan and heating element in the lid. The lastest one, a Houseworth model shook it self to bits. They dont last long.

We have the exact same model as the one Funman is trying to sell, a Sanyo. Paid about 6000 ฿ at Makro four years ago. It's been a good purchase. Wife uses it to roast turkeys, chicken, meat loaf, pot roasts, etc. It gets a lot of use and never a problem with it.
