I am hoping this year will be a good one as last year was a very poor showing.

No chance of the Mekong flooding at that time but you still get some big storms, one of which washed out the festival a couple of years ago. What a mud bath.

Don't get too excited. :) You need some patience while you are waiting for them to appear. You'll know when the first one goes up cos the crowd on the riverbank goes nuts.

The good thing is that they appear in two's and three's so follow where the crowd is looking and you will catch the second or third one.

BB. That sounds like a fair shout, so i will do similar.
There, that has halved in odds of it happening in one go. If we can just find a way of halving the odds about 500,000 times more then we are on to a winner... :D

The local Thais like the number 9 and the Chinese 7 and 8 so try a mixture of those three numbers.Good luck. :D

Hmmm speaking of mixtures another thing I will be doing is getting with my wife's uncle to build my own bung fai rocket  I know I missed the party in Yasothon but I could get some good practice in building and mixing my own gunpower with Lum Compon looking on

Talking of rockets, you do get children running around with them at the festival so it does pay to be alert.

You will be able to spot me by the fact my children will be screaming blue murder as i wont let them throw the rockets around. :)

As for you,i guess i look for a yank with a big grin and a arm full of chang bottles containing lit rockets. :)

You could use me as a bad example..."see that bad falang running around shooting off all those rockets. Now see him running around because he just burnt his fingers along with other body parts" "Just ignore that smile on his face he's not really enjoying himself!" I guess it's just a cruse that I was born on the 4th of July here in the US.

Took a couple of photos today. As you can see the bank below the steps is quite steep in places,so leave your high heels at home. :D

Thank you for the pictures Marcus looks like I'll need to bring safety ropes to keep me from falling in  I'm going to be busy trying to manage bottles of beer, home made rockets, large hords of excited people, all on a steep river bank and this is why I love LOS =D>
