The Thai Poilitical situation has a new twist

Post by bumper » March 19, 2014, 8:56 am

We were out riding for five days. Thought it might be time for a new Thread I believe we have seen what the Army is going to do now.

Probably not the best approach in dealing with the Red Shirts.

Hope you enjoyed the ride Ray .

I have also been on the road a lot this last couple of weeks ,, numerous trips to Bkk , another to Buriram and on most occasions noted large movements of army personal coming up to Isaan from the capital or other , not just a few soldiers but seemed like many and along with lots of equipment ... are they coming to be in place for any Red uprising or call to arms which is being muted by prominent reds Jutapron ans Nattawut ....time will tell.

We saw that as well, they were stopping people right and left at road blocks. Didn't mess with us farrangs at all. But, they were searching cars and pickups a lot. It was good to get out and about. learned somethings about the bike the hard way

I wonder who directed Tida be replaced with Jatuporn..? Back in late April 2010, Tida and other more moderate Reds were ready to cut a deal with then PM Abhisit. That decision was quickly quashed by the "boss" and Jatuporn and other radical Reds were put in charge to take the Rajaprasong demonstration to its final violent conclusion...

If anything is certain, it is that the red-shirts cannot make political progress under the leadership of a fark-wit like Jutaporn.

Hopefully (but I am not holding my breath) he will eventually be sent to jail for many years for his dominant role in the 2010 fiasco. =D>

And as FDK alludes to, it is likely that the icy, megalomaniacal hand from Dubai is behind this.

That is pretty much how I see things now. Darn I didn't get to that parlor. Wasn't it just before this that Uncle Taks were complaining about support for baby sister?

If history repeats itself and it usually does, the possibility for more violence has just went up.

In the end not many positive possibilities seem to be on the horizon. In toed that the BOI was pleading for foreign investor's to come back. First of all the SET has done very well. Secondly he was basing that on the emergency decree being lifted. In hindsight that decree had no effect at all, he courts quashed that. The Army is still in place, so I don't see that anything in that arena has changed.

But, we certainly have a new wold card in the mix.

I had it wrong it was the F.M.

Gee you think The Red Shirts will get angry if Yingluk is found guilty and removed from office. If they are smart they won't. Doesn't matter who they run, they will win an election. With the new leader of the Reds I'm not taking any bets.

I would call this a very strong editorial as to the new UDD leader and Yingluk. Per this uncle Taks still has some very strong relatives to replace Yingluk. Maybe they will play it smart and just win another election. Lets hope so.

The die has already been cast. The BBC are reporting that the Deocrat Party will boycott the election and Suthep's mob will disrupt it again. Not quite the same old same old, though. The army have made it clear whose side they support, which surprised nobody, and the UDD have said they will use peaceful protests. So the circus is back in town.

Just a thought. Maybe the UDD will make sure the polls are open, that Candidates are in place, in each area. Nothing says the Democrats are needed to complete the process, that I know of.

The PRDC had an easy go round last time, not so sure that will be the case this time.

There are few options left, either it's a Democracy, a Junta Government, or a Kingdom. The panel sought by the PRDC sounds more like communism then democracy.

I don't think the PRDC or the UDD is going to back down this time. Which more them likely force the Army's hand.

One thing for sure the Democrats are not going to win the hearts and minds in sufficient amounts to win an election. Issan has a lot of people in it. Somehow I don't think Yingluk will be in the running. more the likely a different family member.

45 days and someone needs enough to form a Parliament.

Or we continue down this road. In the interim I would expect violence from both sides.

An opinion article, he says 60 days for the election.

http://www.bangkokpost.com/opinion/opin ... square-one

PRDC is not changing it's tune sort of sounds like they want a stacked deck before the election.

An outside view

http://www.cnbc.com/id/101513328

One would think the Phua Thai has a strong point, if we are to see a repeat which seems to be likely, then what?

Back to Court?

Is there an Appeals Court this can be taken to?

Sorry guys, But, it is hard to rely on Thai News in general, so going a little further I think is valuable. The comment by The E.C. getting the parties to agree to an election date, makes me wonder what Country they live in.

I do not expect everybody will be dancing to the last tune. PRDC will wreck the election again, the Dems will abandon all pretence of being a serious political party, if they have not already done so, by boycotting a third election. The constitutional Court will declare the election void for the same reason as they voided the last election. All this is expected and no doubt planned for.

It is at that point I think PRDC, the Democrat Party, the Election Commission and the Constitutional Court will all become irrelevant. There may be some violence, but there will be no civil war. There is no popular support for cessation, but there is another political option that is available that might be attractive to several parts of the country. One region has literally been fighting for it for years.

Beginning to sound more like a rail road everyday. EC is now saying the election may not take place in sixty days. Saying it can meet with the parties and agree on an election date after the 60 day period. Here is the kicker the care taker government will not be invited to those talks.

The PRDC wants to hold the Phua Thai responsible for money lost on the Feb, election. Since they in fact disrupted the process if anyone is responsible, it's the PRDC. As to the E.C. it failed to perform it's duties in the election as far as I can see.

Mr. Suthip the majority want's change, the majority of who?

If he is so confident then run the election, then we will see what the real majority wants. Because the real majority would include all the people of Thailand. Even if he had a million people on his band wagon. That wouldn't make up the majority of voters in Thailand.

The obvious answer here is this going to go on a for a very long time, every additional day provides a chance for more violence.
