The Thai Poilitical situation has a new twist

and other relevant transportation questions:

- why do busses get to stay in the passing lane and tool along at 100kph with impunity..
- why do the police allow overloaded trucks to beat up the roads constantly.
- why do the police allow grossly overloaded vehicles (you've seen those 7 meter loads on a pickup!)..

of course, the transportation companies for trucking and busses are owned by very powerful and rich "influential" persons...

My best guess is things will get worse before they get better.

The Thai Poilitical situation has a new twist

My best guess is that the quality of life in Thailand will continue to improve with the occasional hiccup. More and more farang will want to live in Thailand but this will become more difficult as both Thai living standards and the cost of living increase. The future for Thai youth will be continue to be good.

The quality of life for many people in western countries will continue to fall or be pretty static. Western people will continue to work more and more hours to maintain their standard of living (if they have a job). The top dogs in the west will continue to increase their share of the pie. The future for youth in the west will be bleak. The link between work and income and between education and income will continue to diminish. A child's future prospects will increasingly depend on the wealth of his or her parents.

Well the PRDC had it's rally and it was huge. Now we wait and see what the UDD I will be surprised if it's a rally in Bangkok. They also took back the NACC offices. Taking the PRDG guards into their custody. I still think the violence will increase.

It won't be pretty if the UDD does march into Bangkok. I don't look for a move like that unless the PRDC tries to stop the again election at this juncture it seem pretty clear that they will.

no elections for parliament have been rescheduled by the ECC yet.. The PRDC rally was not nearly as big as their original one when they turned out perhaps 200,000 plus.. As for the UDD "going to Bangkok".. I don't see it happening. I think the military has told both sides behind the scenes to not have any huge clashes.. Yes, the M-79 terrorists will be blooping off grenades, all to the orders of ???? As for the PRDC "stopping" the election.. No, they can't do that alone.. If the Democrats stated they were running, the PRDC wouldn't interfere. They're just an outlier arm of the Dems..

"Huge" is a very elastic number - particularly when it is written in the very pro-yellow (or perhaps more accurately, anti-Thaksin) Nation. :-k

This is what the Post said:
While the size of the crowd was in the tens of thousands, far smaller than earlier PDRC rallies, their determination appeared undimmed.

If the photo in both papers represents the entire mob, I would reckon 20 (or 30 at the outside) thousand.

 To me that's huge. Per the article we had a few days ago might be a deciding factor as the UDD next move, supposedly being planned today. Here is the key to me. they don't need to go to Bangkok, if the next election is messed with I think that will be when they step up. Speaking of which took the wife to vote for Senate today. In and out very easy. That was at 1100 hours. I think this one is more important then some may realize. There is little doubt in my mind that Yingluk will be indicted. The Senate will d4ecide her fate. They have fast tracked her case.

Yingluk's case was accepted by the Court, she is out and so is the Phua Thai.

UDD says the protest Saturday will be in Bangkok, this could get interesting.

The top brass met today about the rally, I wish um luck this could get out of hand easily. They have to deal with this in the same manner they did the PRDC, not effective at all.
