Handy website to calculate your risk of dying in the next five years..
www.ubble.co.uk

Obviously does not take account of increased risk of traffic collision, electrocution, falling from balcony etc for those resident in Thailand.

Scarily, before I left England a news article suggested 30% of our grandchildren will live to 100. Nursing homes are the boom business of the future - either that or shot gun sales!

I'm envious. I was 6.4 or 6.5% when I did it this morning. Quite sobering. The questions were interesting too.

It says my Ubble age is 52 which is amazing as I'm actually 86 ! :^o
Interesting the bit about determining your chance of meeting the grim reaper by your walking pace. You see a lot of old farangs shuffling about in Central Plaza with their 20 year old girlfriends.....their prognosis is not good physically as well as financially then ! :-"

"Middle-aged people planning to slow down in later life may want to think again after scientists found that walking pace was a better predictor of early death than smoking.
A study looking at which lifestyle questions would accurately predict the risk of dying within five years found that slow walkers were at greater risk of death in the timescale than those who just smoked. The researchers believe it is because slow walking indicates serious underlying health conditions such as shortness of breath, heart problems, disability and general ill health."
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Oh dear, the Thais are notoriously slow walkers ...

The Thai girls in their twenties and thirties probably don't need to slow down that much for the octogenarian farang shuffle in Central Plaza. These old boys might get their most beneficial exercise in a more horizontal position ...

If I don't buy a car soon and keep riding this bloody moped I reckon my chances will remain at about 99% as long as there are Thai people still trying to drive on the roads, and the pavements.
