Another big Newcastle signing by Mike "Flash the Cash" Ashley  socksy must be in a state of complete bewilderment ! ;)
This guy was apparently being monitored by Chelsea but choose The Toon....

Aleksandar Mitrovic: Newcastle United sign Anderlecht striker

Newcastle have signed Anderlecht striker Aleksandar Mitrovic for £13m - subject to a work permit.
The Serbia international, 20, has signed a five-year deal with Steve McClaren's side.
He becomes United's second summer signing following the £14.5m arrival of PSV midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
"This is a club with a very big history and the fans are a big part of that. There will be pressure here, for sure, but I like pressure," said Mitrovic.
"I also know about the famous players who have played for Newcastle United, like Alan Shearer, who is a hero of mine. I hope I can play like him for this club. It will be an honour."
Mitrovic scored 36 league goals in his two years in Belgium, including 20 last season to be the league's top scorer.
He cost the Belgian club £4.3m when they signed him from Partizan Belgrade two years ago.
Mitrovic, who was also a reported target for Chelsea, scored an injury-time equaliser in the Champions League against Arsenal last season.

And Crystal Palace have signed Chelsea striker,Patrick Bamford 21,on a seasons long loan.
Another decent addition to Palaces squad.Bamford scored 19 goals on loan at Championship side,Middlesbrough, last season.

Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Telephone number money. How much would a ticket be to a home game for one of the better clubs these days? Something really stupid I imagine.

263 quid upwards for a season ticket for Glasgow Rangers. Fifty quid for rug rats. To cut down on travelling costs you can always share travel with other fans from Surrey to Old Trafford. :-"

At Least Stuart Pearce is talking some sense !!

John Stones would be better staying at Everton FC than going to Chelsea reckons Stuart Pearce

Former England U21s coach doesn't think defender should move

John Stones is better off staying at Everton rather going to Chelsea reckons former England Under-21s coach Stuart Pearce.

Blues boss Roberto Martinez is furious with the Premier League champions public pursuit of his most prized defensive asset and the Londoners even admitted they have received a letter from Goodison Park chiefs who are in no mood to sell the England international.

Pearce, 53, who won 78 caps for England believes the young Yorkshireman should continue to learn his trade on Merseyside.

Stuart PearceStuart Pearce
He said: “I’m not sure yet (whether Stones should go to Chelsea), it’s that potential, they’re all buying potential.

“The jury is always out for me on these young players like Stones.”

David Moyes’ last signing for Everton on January 31 2013, in a £3million deal, Stones, now 21, has enjoyed a rapid rise with the Blues.

Capped four times for England to date, he penned a lucrative new five-year contract at Goodison only last summer and despite some reports emanating from the capital he is believed to be happy at the Blues where he has been mentored by Roberto Martinez.

Stones is a big favourite among Evertonians due to his down-to-earth, friendly nature
The Catalan has made it clear that he does not wish to sell Stones and while the club are under no financial pressure to part with the player who they have just handed the number five jersey to, if they were forced to sell then they would be demanding a British record fee for a defender, well in excess of the £32million Manchester City paid Porto for Eliaquim Mangala last year.

Just one or two bits of footie news on this quiet day as we drink mineral water in front of our computers......

Jose Mourinho says Rafael Benitez 'destroyed' Inter in six months

Jose Mourinho has accused Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez of "destroying the best team in Europe" when the Spaniard replaced him at Inter Milan in 2010.
The Chelsea boss spoke after Benitez's wife joked her husband was "tidying up" another Mourinho "mess" at Real.
As well as Real, Benitez also managed Chelsea - although he did not directly replace Mourinho at either club.
"The lady is a bit confused," Mourinho, 52, said after Chelsea's International Champions Cup win over Barcelona.
"Her husband went to Chelsea to replace Roberto Di Matteo and he went to Real Madrid and replaced Carlo Ancelotti.
"The only club where her husband replaced me was at Inter Milan, where in six months he destroyed the best team in Europe at the time."
Not content with setting the record straight, Mourinho then made a jibe about Benitez's physical shape.
He said that if Montserrat Seara, Benitez's wife, focused on taking care "of her husband's diet" then "she will not have any time to talk about me".

I have to agree with Jose here.Rafas weight has been a source of concern for some time now and if Ms. Montserrat cannot do anything about it,she should be replaced ! =;

Southampton fans are in a panic as new signing,Stephen Caulker, has been unveiled on a seasons long loan. The last two seasons Caulker has played for both Cardiff and QPR and both were relegated ! :yikes:

PSG beat Manchester United 2-0 in a pre-season friendly earlier today......I know its only a friendly BUT......
LVG had Phil Jones and Daley Blind as the central defence pairing.....
Uniteds best midfielder last season,Herrera, doesnt feature again and isnt injured..... :-k
LVG signs a tricky winger in Depay but,so far,has played him inside behind the main striker.... :-s
Mata's best position is just behind the main striker but LVG plays him on the wing..... [-(

I'm sure it will all come right against the Spuds a week on Saturday,though..... :-"

Looks like the Manchester pharmacies should stock up with Prozac this season as there might be heavy demand from United supporters?
