5 maidens in the first 45 overs, and for nearly 200, not good enough from the Kiwi's. Haven't tied any end down.
With 90 to be bowled in the day the kiwi's obviously need a few quick wickets

Latest : Australia 223-1.....Burns out for 71.....Warner 113 not out,Khawaja 30 not out.

Promises to be an interesting series between these two middle of the road Test playing nations ! :D

Well the Black Caps finished on a rare positive note, a maiden. Not much else to cheer about.
Aust 2/389. Nearly 400 in a day?
Just when NZ thought they had a good change with Warner departing in comes Capt Smith and smashes 7 x 4's out of his 41 runs.
Well batted Australia, especially Khawaja given another crack at the big time, but hard to tell just how well the batsmen are performing or if the bowlers are throwing down pies, when I'm only reading live commentary.

Well there are as many Victorians playing for NZ as there are playing for Aust and Peter Siddle got royally shafted so I was on the Kiwi wagon today (one less Muslim in their side too :D ). Didn't seem to help as from what I saw, after work, they bowled absolute tripe and were spanked all over the park. Hope the contest tightens over the next couple of days.

After their series victory over England in the UAE,Pakistan have moved up to 2nd in the world rankings.
England are now below both those middle of the road sides,Australia and New Zealand. ;)
I think we had better book a home series against both Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, sharpish !

ICC Test rankings (top six)

Played Points Rating

South Africa 24 3008 125
Pakistan 28 2977 106
Australia 32 3376 106
India 27 2710 100
New Zealand 29 2875 99
England 40 3940 99

But in day 2 in Brisbane,New Zealand strike early.....Smith b Boult 48.....Australia currently 408-3.

Zid, The Bangkok Expats Eleven would no doubt be interested for a series in Thailand, Just think of the fun trying to bowl a maiden over? Finding one would be difficult enough.

From Fox Sports, pulling no punches.

Australia v New Zealand First Test: Brendon McCullum panicked field changes leave Kiwis floundering
IN the World Cup final it took Mitchell Starc just five balls to burst New Zealand’s bubble by skittling Brendon McCullum.

On Thursday the Black Caps’ hopes of breaking a 30-year drought on Australian soil appeared shot within the hour, with McCullum again unable to stand up when the heat was on.

At the MCG McCullum’s meltdown came with the bat, but on day one at the Gabba he lost the plot with some panicked field changes in the opening session.

New Zealand’s busted bowlers have now gone two matches taking three wickets for more than 800 runs.

Now that's a good score card

4/heaps.
At least the kiwi bowlers shared the wickets with 1 each.
Kiwis started brightly but fell down once the wickets started to fall
5/150
Williamson is having a go now reaching 50

Not a good first ball start to the day for the Kiwis but they have kept it going and young Williamson looks set to get his first ton against Australia.
Ticking along at 5+ an over this morning. Hope they don't think its a one dayer.

Its another depressing day for the Kiwis.Bowled out for 317,of which Williamson scored an excellent 140,they are now been hammered by the Aussie openers with Australia being 79-0 after just 12 overs......a lead of 318.

Australia declared their second innings on 264-4 setting New Zealand an unlikely 504 to win.
Openers Burns scored 129 and Warner 116 but Australia slumped from 237-0 to 263-4 in a batting display reminiscent of those seen recently in the United Arab Emirates !
New Zealand currently 48-1 off 23 overs and after 90 minutes,so they are taking their time to ease to victory ! ;)
