Great to see Buddy on the track again. Lets hope he puts in a big year. As for Carlton, SOS to me seems to have had a good showing with 15 new players, not all will make it but there are some in with a good chance. Their improvement will have to be noticed, as the same as all the other Clubs also will show improvement. DU

They should have an Essendon version of monopoly. If I had been the designer I'd have had some squares with cells half full with former AFL players who had been in the big house.

With recruitment when it succeeds or fails I'm not sure who should be praised / carry the can more. The recruiting boss or the head coach? The two must work closely together. I wonder who has the final say about who is recruited. Presumably the head coach sets the strategy - e.g. we need one experienced forward who will perform well next season.

I see Dustin Martin has been in yet more trouble annoying other patrons at a restaurant. Wazza will enjoy the old photo in the link showing Martin making an unkind gesture to Eddie's mob:

Yesterday was 3 months until the opening 2016 season Richmond - Carlton game. The TAB says Carlton is going to get its arse kicked. It doesn't seem to have factored in any post - Malthouse bounce.

Various different plays on the bans etc, from The Club, Former Coach, Players Association etc

For me the actions of the players , summed it up, when every one of them, failed to declare these injections on their regular routine drug testing.

Failure to disclose , and they had all received the formal AFL inductions on Drugs in Sport etc

Welcome back GT, U got a ban as long as Essendon also ??

It's something that had gone on for years Wazza. Players have been injected with various things for years under the advice of team medics. What if you advise a bloke off shore, who is crook, that he requires an injection and he later loses his job after a urine test. Is that his fault or yours. I remember my brother receiving injections of pain killers playing under 19's for Melbourne. I'm not sticking up gif the Bombers as they'll have to cop it and move on but I do think a kind had been drawn for all AFL clubs and players and the Bombers have become an example.

A Prescribed medication / injection , by a certified clinical provider, who will document this in the patients file, doesn't come under this, people fail drug tests at the work place for cough syrups during the winter seasons, if declared at the time of the test , it can be identified and addressed. There is also the worker who buys cough syrups to mask other narcotic substances, but tests can then be made to identify the opiate in detail.

Failure to declare is the key point.

The Bombers players have been done and fair enough but I don't understand why a player can knowingly take party drugs get three strikes before being outed? Banned or illegal drugs should have the same penalty.

I have my Dustin Martin moments minus the chopsticks wazza. :D

Downunder might be concerned that Essendon will get better draft picks than Carlton. I think Essendon should be stripped of the benefits of a wooden spoon.

Grievs, I think taking performance enhancing drugs, pardon me, grievously undermines the competition. I'm not even sure that the AFL should ordinarily be poking its nose into players' recreational drug use. As we know the players risk such drugs being contaminated with prohibited substances.

If a player is good enough to hold his place in a team despite occasionally smoking dope, being a binge drinker like Carey etc. then so be it. Sure, his club should try to promote the player's welfare but long bans for this seem over the top to me if the player satisfies the club in terms of performance and discipline.

It's sad to see Ken Judge has died. He was only 57, almost 58. There have been some nice comments on Judge.

The Bombers have signed Crowley From the Dockers as there first top up player for 2016. There are quite a few experienced players finished up last year like Jonathon Simpkin & Brian Lake from Hawtorn, James Kelly & Matthew Stokes from the Cats that might be possible top up players and although they won't be finals contenders it could be embarrassing for some clubs if they can finish up the ladder a little bit.

You're picking another wooden spoon for Carlton grievous?

The AFL looks like a circus to me. I see Dank says he can rescue the Bombers. How the hell they let a clown like Dank in the front door astounds me. He couldn't even work out what supplements wee prohibited and Hormone Hirdie and Co were so confident in Dank that they didn't get his work peer reviewed or even medically reviewed. I hope he didn't sell them a couple of rai of Uluru.

It might upset a few blokes for me to write this here but the NRL is looking much better managed.

Gary Lyon = Wayne Carey?

I guess we're going to get all the details again.

The Cheaters will be happy. It may shift some public contempt from the Cheaters to Mr. Lyon.

Personally I don't have any issues with Carey. If he asked me to snort some coke with him, I'd say "sure" but I'll stick to the VBs and you do your own thing Wayne. Now what do you think of Gary Lyon, Wayne?
