I have my fingers crossed that the local Scots will look after the golfers better than Hawaiians. We don't want any local lads giving any golfers a bit of biffo.

Tiger needs to be careful. It wouldn't be wise to drop your trousers for a married local lass. Particularly if the other half is a Rangers supporter?

No difficulty finding the clubs and bag Robert. It's when I sniff the free size 'Leith Docks' in the car that I realised that I forgot to remove them.

Anyway my prediction to win the Open is Dustin Johnson who is pretty consistent at the moment. Other member's tips?

Surely not another American winner at Troon ...... it's supposed to be a LINKS course

Big field socksy so a few options

Winner .......From Jason Day, Alex Noren, or Sergio Garcia :-"
Outsiders with chance Matthew Fitzpatrick, Andy Sullivan or Chris Wood

A special mention and hope for a great OPEN for Thongchai Jaidee and Phachara Khongwatmai =D>

Old 'Mrs Doubtfire' maintains his usual erratic Golf only finishing level par on his 'home' course with another big lump having a cracking opening round. One shot less would have been a record for a round at a Major. =D> How's your player doing? see below.

Statto (no pun intended but) there's a lot of daylight between both of our tips and the leader. Not been to Largs? Sunblock always required.

I know he's a very distant relative (Paternal Grandfather of wife of nephew of wife of 7th cousin 5x removed  phew) but it's nice to know that I am related  to James Ogilvy Fairlie the organiser of the very first open at Prestwick in 1860.

He finished 8th in the 1861 open (first open to Amateurs), and also served as Captain of the R & A

He is seen here in 1855 being caddied for by Old Tom Morris who was to go on to win the 2nd,3rd,5th and 8th opens

Well done Statto. That's a smashing looking Mashie Niblick he's using. Sadly the bubble has severely burst on our Open winner predictions. Mickelson (new celebrity Rangers fan I suspect) needs to be careful Stenson could be hovering. He played a round with our guvnor Warburton a few days ago.

A lead is NEVER going to be comfortable on a Scottish links course Socksy. Early starters today predicted to get fair weather with rain & wind forcast for the leaders ........ don't expect lefty to implode like his fellow countryman does, but he may get dragged back a lot nearer the pack ......... (Sergio ???)
