Anyone use taxi meter?

Post by vincemunday » October 18, 2016, 9:14 am

Does anyone use taxi meter? Are they okay or is there a better one?

The forest was shrinking daily but the trees kept voting for the axe as its handle was made of wood and they thought it was one of them.

In UT......fixed rate, published, within ring rd and specific places (airport), set rates beyond. Posted elsewhere...

Google or other forum are your friends..........

Rhetorical question for sure.........hopefully.

Amazing Thailand...............I've chit chatted with them a bit, a couple times, before posting about them. It would be amazing if you could get one to use the meter..... :D

They certainly used the meter a few years back. The only time I used them, but that was within weeks of their service starting up. Cant even remember where we were going (xmas or new year do), can only remember we had to phone for him to pick us up, and his "be there in 5 - 10 mins" ended up as 45 ........ never used them again

I'm going to have to ask again, next time over by the bus station, but remember, less than 5 yrs ago, if memory good, them telling me a set rate within ring rd, and airport. Then rates outside...............BUT.......... just searched and saw a post of mine, though 5 yrs ago, saying they did use meter.

Along with dispatch fee, since back then, they weren't allowed at the airport, which has changed. It will be interesting how powerful they are when it comes to the bus service. As they were blocked out of the airport for so long. Tuk tuks still can't sit at the airport.

Bus service should be the standard for any airport, especially and 'international' airport..............

I've heard that the Udon Tuk tuk association have told all their members to respect the wishes of the govt and not drink and drive for the next year

There will be tuk tuks available for hire from Oct 2017 onwards

I didn't know that there were any Uber drivers around Udon. I use it all the time in Bangkok and it's fine.

Translated.......

......... they break up the taxi mafia and give the customer more choices for better customer service at a competitive price..............OK, got it.

OR.........you can pay silly prices

http://www.the-london-taxi.com/Public_Carriage_Office

In Krung Thep, it shows where and when the Uber driver will arrive, though metered taxis are usually everywhere, BUT, may not want the fare on the meter, or to go at all. Along with the silly scams.

If BTS / MRT isn't convenient, and I only use ground transportation as a last resort.

Also learn the canal piers.

Amazing ..... when I left civilization and came to Udon, they would NEVER have allowed such an obvious violation of the law in UK. Unlicensed drivers in their own cars  whatever happened to the idea of keeping the public SAFE when travelling. The ONE thing you could always rely on in UK was that a PSV driver bus/train/taxi had undergone very strict and complete training BEFORE being allowed to carry passengers. I cannot believe that any govt would allow these people to take "fares" ........... it could be unaccompanied women or children getting into these vehicles or even an old grandma

You can Blame TFL ( Transport for London ) for most of the debacle they have caused in this, PLUS Corruption has been PROVED But Nobody gets the Sack Infact The Most Corrupt one has been PROMOTED To Oversee London Railways .....And there has been 32 Rapes ( At Least ) in Uber Cars in London in the past 12 Months,However TFL Will NOT Publish the true figures even with a FOI ( Freedom of Information ) request they have been presented with by the LTDA ( London Taxi Drivers Association )....TFL Stink to High Heaven.....BTW Not being Racialist here but it's estimated that there are 90% Immigrants that are driving Uber Cars in London, With Very LITTLE Knowledge of Where they are going ( NO Knowledge Test for them ) Whereas REAL Taxi Drivers have to do The KOL ( Knowledge of London ) Which takes between 3 & 4 Years to obtain their Badge & VERY Few Uber have the correct H&R ( Hire & Reward ) Insurance and TFL KNOW This.....Would YOU Let you're Wife,Girlfriend Granny,or You're Children ride with them ??? .....Just to save A Couple of Quid....( Have a look on Twitter ) at London Taxis Posts....'Twill Open yer bloody Eyes Mate...

In the U.S., Uber drivers must pass driving record and criminal record checks (although requirements vary some by state). Additionally, every Uber ride is covered by Uber's own insurance policy; I believe that the limit is $1 million per incident.

That said, some drivers have attacked women. The cases I know of are in the U.S. and in India.
