English Language Volunteer

Post by poabegin » April 12, 2017, 1:38 pm

Dear all : )

With respect to English language speaking community, I would love to ask for your kind support to create an English-speaking club in Udon Thani.

If you are interested to co-create this challenging community in Udon Thani town, please give some suggestion for this very beginning stage of this club.

Smiles,
Poa

What exactly do you have in mind with your English speaking club? The Ex-pat club is an English speaking club which meets the last Sunday of every month in the Bangkok Hospital Conference Room. Drop in on the next meeting. We have free coffee and snacks for all.

Went once to the so-called expat club, never to return.

There's nothing "so-called" about it. It's a club made up of ex-pats living in Thailand.

I remember a few years ago now, that the Pattaya Bridge Club was raided by Immigration Police and forced to close down,

Cant remember the legal issue that went with it now, but others might ???

If this is open to Thai nationals a check on the legal status is advised. as indicated above.

Wazza the legal issue was gambling. The Ex-Pat club is a strictly a social/fraternal club. We have guest speakers every month presenting a variety of topics. We also visit local places of interest.

Write this is a club for Ex-Pats. An expatriate (often shortened to expat) is a person temporarily or permanently residing in a country other than that of their citizenship. Wikipedia I don't see your point unless you are trying to somehow say that Thai people could be considered Ex-Pats in their own country. Definitely incorrect.

Not referencing the expat club. Responding to the English Language Volunteer post. Thought it was two different entities. I have spent 30 years in more than 40 countries and have some idea what an expat is, but thanks for the clarification. I thought I would just show some concern because teaching English in los is regulated and don't want to see anyone trying to help get stung by immigration. That's all.
