Chiang Khan mini craft brewery

Post by grievous » July 17, 2017, 12:21 am

I discovered this little gem on my last trip to Chiang Khan with the misses. It's a mini craft brewery named Jo+Beer that had four draft beers on tap at 120 baht a pop. The owner was telling me during the peak period they have mine craft drafts available including cider.
He was let me know there's another craft brewery/bar in Loei named "Outlaw".
The drop I liked the best was the coffee porter as Im not a massive IPA fan.
It was a bit late to pop in to outlaws but it will be on the to do list next time I'm up that way.

Good to know. I thought the laws and regulations in Thailand made such places either tough to get licensed or hard to keep in business with a strict maximum on-site production and/or a minimum on site consumption criteria. The Vietnam brew pub scene is very exciting at the moment but this is good venue to add to a regional outing.

The World Expo on craft beers was held in HK last year from memory and Asian is the booming market .

Recent news article in Oz, suggests its a marketing nightmare as many IPAs etc have been bought out by the big boys and the label kept. There is no regulated definition of an IPA / Craft beer in Oz.
Little Creatures is an Australian brewing company based in Fremantle, Western Australia, originally established in 2000 by the original brewers of the Matilda Bay Brewing Company. The name "Little Creatures" is inspired by a song lyric from the Talking Heads Little Creatures album and refers to the live yeast cells that turn the sugars in malt wort into ethanol.

Little Creatures Pty Ltd is owned by Little World Beverages, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lion Nathan (which is itself a wholly owned subsidiary of Kirin)

 Almost forgot 120bt draught or 180bt take away stubbies at Jo+Beer. A lot better value drinking in the pub.
I'll pop back in the winter high season to sample the stout then pop in to Loei for a few at Outlaws.
