Nong Khai Immigration at Friendship Bridge....

Post by 747man » February 21, 2018, 5:29 pm

Oh ! Dear I Chose the WRONG Day to do my 90 Day Border run,It was due Tomorrow 22nd February but being up a bit earlier than normal I decided to do it Today.....

Crossing from Thai side NO Problem,Nobody in front of me at Thai Immigration,Stamped out, Got the bus ticket & Bus Straight out....On arriving at Laos immigration about 10 Farangs in front of me & Laos Officer on Her MEAL Break,Waited about 15 Minutes for her to return, Paid my 35US$ & Completed Forms then 30 Mins Later recieved passport back with Laos Visa.....Just a Quick U-Turn & Back on the Bus ....

On arriving back at Thai Immigration there were about 1,000 Laos Schoolkids waiting to be processed :-k :-k ,Which took well over an hour & It was Very Hot standing in the Queue....  :shock:So All in All what I Can normally do in under the hour Took me almost 3 Hours to complete Today....

Also Noticed On the Laos Side Many CHINESE Tourists in the Duty Free Shop....

Would have been nice if you had warned me about the lunatic exit route you now have to take to get out of Laos now Alan.. :(

Queue to get stamped out of Laos - half way down the 'strip'.
Then return to the start of the strip to queue for (& pay) the 1 time cards needed to open the exit barriers at the end of the strip.
Again walk back past the Immigration officer you queued for before to the exit barriers at the far end of the strip.

The people who pass out the 1 time cards will not issue you with one unless you have already been stamped out of Laos - I know because I tried.

Bob, That's because I NEVER Bought / Used one.....After I Got stamped out of Laos,Moved towards those EXIT barriers,I Just kept to my extreme LEFT & Exited through the OPEN Gate, NOT Stopped or Questioned by anyone....Then onto purchase my bus ticket.....

There were Immigration Officers (2) manning those exits this morning.
1 of them refused to let me through (after examining my passport for longer than the 1 who had stamped me out of Laos) & told me I had to go back to the 1 time card booths.
I had, originally, queued up at that booth as soon as I arrived at Immigration, only to be told that they would not sell me a card because I did not have an exit stamp in my passport...
