Interesting Trip
Interesting Trip
Headed off the other day at 4AM on a trip down south to enjoy some sand and sea water
After a lengthy trip came in contact with a beautiful town of they say is 85,000. I must say that the roads we travelled are much improved over the ones we must travel everyday. No ruts, no pot holes, no holes that have been filled by someone who seemingly doesn't have a clue how to repair
I was and am still wondering how such a difference could exist within the same country under the same people who must follow a similar standard?
Anyway 1800kms and back home again
In the end our roads do need attention if we are to maintain the access to the other countries and their produce and people

Re: Interesting Trip
Didn't realise it was a guessing game
OK 1800 km = 900km each way which means it cant be on the eastern seaboard as Chanthaburi would only be about 1400 - 1500 round trip, so it must be somewhere near Bang Saphan, but I cant remember anything that could be called a "great beach" anywhere in that area. After the South Hua Hin beaches there is not a lot until Thungwualaen Beach but that would be 2000km round trip, so its certainly somewhere new to me

Re: Interesting Trip
Good call 12345, I'd forgotten that one, and it would be about 900km from Udon =D>
But it's hardly got a pop of 85000 (more like 85) and PKK has a pop nearer to a million i'd of thought
Thing thats getting me is the state of the roads ........ Route 4 had loads of filled and unfilled potholes last year, and even allowing for resurfacing (ongoing) they couldn't possiblty have done the complete length by now

Re: Interesting Trip
I still think of Khao Kolok as a "South of Hua Hin" beach as it's one of the go to beaches when the "jellies" are in season.
Still amazed at how many people can shelter in the shade of a few trees and a bloomin great cliff
I'm assuming the PKK one is Ao Manoa mentioned earlier or is there a better one?
Went to Sam Roi Yot (Dolphin Bay) a few years back but it was during a massive 3 day storm so any beach there may have been was covered with water .... luckily the resort had good pools to swim

Re: Interesting Trip
Tony, what's the beach like down there? I've always avoided it as I was told it is mainly rocks and stones even out in the water.trekkertony wrote: ↑March 25, 2018, 2:16 pmWe have stayed at Ban Saithong Resort and cannot speak highly enough of the resort and the beauty of the surrounds.

Re: Interesting Trip
Hi Statto,
The beach in front of the resort is fantastic, around the headland some distance south of the resort is rocky. See
Tham Thong-Bang Boet Beach.
