PS

The ham sandwiches were still going off when I got there, had to show the NRL guys how to turn the sandwich maker on, to toast them.

Thank you very much for all that attended, it turned out a great day for the ANZACs. Also thank you to the Thai Army personnel for attending. Some nice photos there Kal (Aussie Boy), the only one was that awkward was the Hawks supporter sitting by himself pondering if they will have another win this season.

The staff and volunteers did a fantastic job on the day, thank you. Yep those ham and corned beef sandwiches went down well, thanks Jimmy UGM, bad luck for the Magpies. Hey Waz, the NRL boys were just testing your abilities as a AFL supporter, they knew the complicated mechanism's of the toaster, and you managed to get it right LOL mate.

Again a big thanks to:-
John from Birmingham, 4000B donation.
Jimmy, Gourmet Meats, 7 kg leg of ham.
Wazza, 1500B donation.
Grevious, large bottle of Bundaberg OP rum, 58% alcohol.

Hope to see you all in 2018,
Rob.

Just wanted to say Thanks too Rob and team.
As one of the few Kiwi's to attend, and surrounded by ruddy Aussie's, it can be hell at times, but as usual I was still made welcome, as is our way, even off the field, and even if my reclusive nature had me hanging mostly in the background. You did us Kiwis proud too Rob,in the compiling of the eulogy ( for want of a better word ) and read out by a young serving Aussie soldier. When ones mind drifts off to times long ago, as mind did, then Rob you have achieved the purpose of the day. loved the grub too Mate, well done Digger

ANZAC Day 2018, last year of WW1 Udon Thani, Thailand.

Post by Sport » April 5, 2018, 1:24 pm

Wednesday 25 April 2018 is ANZAC Day for Commonwealth countries and their Allies from WW1. ANZACs, (Australian New Zealand Army Corp) is a day that is remembered by those 2 countries who were part of a larger force that stormed the beach and cliffs of Gallipoli in Turkey on that day in 1915 and the first time Oz and Kiwis fought as one group.

Losses to the Commonwealth armies were high as too for the Turks who never gave up and were heroic soldiers. It was a defeat for the Commonwealth and on this day we remember the sacrifices of both armies and ceremonies take place around the world marking this event.

At "Jingjoes" Aussie Bar we will be doing our small part too remember the fallen. The bar is located in Soi Srisunthon, off Nittaya Rd, directly opposite the Post Office, Udon Gourmet Meats (Jimmys) and NB Hotel, just down from Marko heading towards the city and the same side as Makro, you may see the black kangaroo on yellow background on the main road.

Commencing at 7.30am, Ice cold refreshments and free snack food will be available together with a free shot of Bundaberg and other rums. Around 8.30am a small ceremony will take place with 2 speech's and the lowering and raising of the Oz and Kiwi flags.

Seating and shade will be provided, "Jingjoes" has apartments for short and long stay with air-con in all rooms. Overnight stay is 300B and connected to the Aussie Bar. AB the catering will be similar to the service of 2017.

Lest we forget.

Thanks Rob
