UEFA have chosen Spanish official Antonio Mateu Lahoz to take charge of the crunch quarter-final second leg at the Etihad.
Liverpool go into the game holding a 3-0 lead after dominating Pep Guardiola's side at Anfield last Wednesday.
In 18 domestic games in Spain this season, Mateu Lahoz has brandished 92 yellow cards, three reds and awarded nine penalties..........
Oh !! Good.....

i am absolutely flabbergasted by the Roma result though..no media hype in the UK press, out the competition after the first leg. This is also a very big deal!!!
Re: European Cups 2017/18
City got off to a great start, scoring after only 2 minutes, and Liverpool were under the cosh for most of the first half.
There was a contentious moment just before half time when City had a goal ruled out for offside although it appeared Liverpools Milner had the last touch beforehand,so maybe a bit of luck for The Reds there......Guardiola went beserk and was sent to the stands.
But once Salah scored,on the hour, that meant City had to score 4 to win 5-1 and go through. That was never going to happen and Firmino added a second for Liverpool to make it a miserable night for the hosts.
So,3 defeats on the bounce for City with maybe a 4th coming up this weekend at The Spuds.....Guardiola under pressure and City a team in decline never mind,Neil Warnock is waiting in the wings to take over next season !
Congratulations to Liverpool on a deserved aggregate win and lets hope they can go all the way and lift the Champions League trophy.
No doubt we will here from Taxi and dezzer later and 747man will be logging in to add his congratulations once he has done his shopping at Tesco Lotus Nong Khai !
Yes,a huge shock in Roma knocking out Barca.....not even mat80 could see that coming cant see Real Madrid or Bayern slipping up though.

For the Spaniards it took a 97 minute penalty winner from Ronaldo in order to progress - that after they thumped Juve 3 nil in the first leg.
Equally, Bayern rather hung on for their victory rather than sweeping Sevilla away. It was the first time in 22 consecutive home Champion League matches that the Germans failed to score.
The semi final draw takes place Friday. I guess that most EPL supporters are hoping to see a Real v Pool final. I guess most Europeans will be looking forward to a Spanish v German final...
Re: European Cups 2017/18
Certainly high drama in Madrid where Juventus had amazingly clawed back the 3-0 deficit only to concede a penalty in the 90th minute. In the fracas that followed Juve keeper Buffon was sent off by referee Michael Oliver.A sad end to the European career of one of the all time greats.
Ronaldo despatched the penalty to put Real through.
I dont know why he's so bitter.Big Sam has saved Everton from relegation and they look likely to finish above bigger clubs like Bournemouth,Watford and Huddersfield. Also they had a week or two in Europe.....OK,they were outclassed by European giants Atalanta and Lyon but a nice little jolly for the old pros like Williams,Jagielka,Rooney and Baines.

The Gunners looked to be totally in charge before a ball was kicked in Moscow, but it all got a bit nervy once they went 2 nil behind. They rallied though & even managed a draw on the night
Lazio looked to have few worries at half time. 4 - 2 up from the first leg & nil, nil with 45 minutes to go. They even managed to then sneak an away goal to go 5 - 2 up. Then 20 minutes of madness as the host scored 4 goals to go through by 6 to 5..
Marseille also started the match a goal down, but were 2 goals down after only 2 minutes of this match. They then got their act together & were infront over the 2 legs by half time. They scored a couple more in the second half to make it look far easier than it was looking after 3 minutes!!
Few chances taken by Atlético as they conceded a goal mid way through the first half & so shut up shop. I still think that they are the side to avoid in the semis.

With Arsenal the team against whom all of the remaining three would most prefer to be drawn, Bob?
Re: European Cups 2017/18
I'm not sure to be honest Mat.
The Gunners are a strange side this season. 1 game they can be a delight to watch & the next, with the same set of players, a woe. Having Welbeck back & fit is a real bonus for them though as in some of their games they have zero penetration from a great deal of possession.
I think that they could quite easily beat either Salzburg or Marseille over 2 legs, &, at their best, could beat Atletico over 1 game.
Their unpredictability might make all 3 of the other qualifiers wary, but I think only Atletico won't care who they get..

Oh dear... I guess the Gunners will just have to do it the hard way then...Marseille v Red Bull Salzburg
Arsenal v Atletico Madrid

"Fans have been led to believe the Champions League draw was pre-determined as Roma advertised tickets for their semi-final against Liverpool ahead of the draw."
Oh shock/horror NOT
What the F*** did they expect from anything involving FIFA or UEFA surely not anything above board or honest

Pool are all but in the final - unless Roma can pull off another stunning home win.Liverpool 5 Roma 2
They were going to Italy with a 5 goal advantage with 10 minutes to play but then displayed that side of their game that will give Roma hope that all is not lost..
