Momentum matters.
Just for the heck of it, I went back and looked at the election results in this Congressional district for the last 15 elections (30 years). Republicans have won every election.

Momentum? Cause for celebration by the Trump forces? I think not.

Yes, I hate Trump, although I do agree with some of the things he's done. But I didn't make these numbers up. They are what they are.
This was a SPECIAL ELECTION with a new candidate, not an incumbent and not held when others in the country are held in November. That matters.

Winning ANY way with a new candidate is great.

Which ones in your list were the same? :)

You need to perfect your research.

No, you need to face reality.

The 2000 election had no incumbent either. As above, the Republican candidate won 55 to 45. That was the same year that this district went 52 to 46 in favor of Bush.

So Balderson eeked out a win of less than 1% with the direct help and personal appearances by both the President and Vice President. If the Republicans are taking that to the bank as a sign of national sentiment, strength and momentum, a lot of them are going to be looking for jobs come January.

As always, I know that you'll want the last word, so feel free.

Dim wit, just about sums up your biggoted views, and anyone who believes in the tripe put forward on the MSM
and Youtube without looking to understand an alternative view is a BIG dim wit. Trump has called the doom and gloom mongers bluff. All credit to him. The LOL scientific data regularly thrown down our throats are based on such a miniscule fraction of of the Earths life and given to us as facts.
The fact is keep people scared then they are easy to control.

Well the majority of the world thinks differently, so your views are in the minority. But of course you are welcome to them, just as I am to mine.

. . .

If the Republicans are taking that to the bank as a sign of national sentiment, strength and momentum . . .

National sentiment? No. Just that a new candidate in a special election in an off year can win is a good thing. Losing the seat by any amount would not have been good, but not the end of the world.

Strength? Nope. He's not a super strong candidate, but I know what the country will get with a Democrat.

But yes, I view it as providing some momentum.

The reality is that you view this single special election in one district of Ohio as the same as all the others in that same district -- with the same borders and same candidates and same circumstances. I view this election knowing that the characteristics in 2018 make it different than ALL of the previous 18 elections over the past 36 years in this district. I realize that voter turnout is always down in midterm elections and even further down in special elections. The guy was trying to play catch-up with his Democrat contender. He was behind. He eeked it out. I'm thrilled.

But more importantly where you and I are concerned, the reality is that your opinion about what this election means is based on a foreigner's hate-filled pessimism against Trump, and mine is a citizen's hope-filled optimism for my country.

I'll take the win in Ohio's 12th district -- even by 1% -- every time, every year, every election.

Yes, even with 1%, it's STILL STEADY WINNING.

Why on earth does lone star just blabber on to himself on a forum based in udon thani. surely he should be on some American site preaching HATE to the disloyal and unpatriotic democrats . he's trying to convince 3 people on an small foreign web site that he is right when evidence is everywhere to prove him wrong.
He also just repetitively tries to make out people are American HATERS. but in truth it's him that people dislike, I would describe him as boorish . same goes for Trump... but hey Loner there are 120,000,000 americans that HATE Trump...they too disagree with you , deal with it

Dance, libbies. Your agenda has been rejected. Your quest to allow creepy dudes into ladies restrooms has been rejected. Quietly go back to your caves.

Time to man up, EU. You've been on the coattails for 75 years. No more gravy train, spongers. I, for one, am sick and tired of the sick EU duplicity -- the bellow America is the unwanted world's policeman, yet they depend heavily on that security, underfunding their own defense and undermining their futures by hating themselves to death. Why would anybody defend such idiots?

Well, I said that you could have the last word, and you shall. I won't respond to anything substantive in your post except to point out that you have incorrectly labeled me as a foreigner and pessimist. I'm an American. And, as I have said repeatedly, I'm not at all a pessimist. I agree with much of what Trump has done substantively. Why don't I like him? I would say about him the same thing that Kennedy said about Nixon, -- he has no class.

Well, it's close.

The new eneMedia socialist darling, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, toured the country into different states with Bernie Sanders. They gave speeches and had rallies for fellow socialists in the hopes that they would win their primaries. ALL were defeated. ALL. Socialism was rejected, but I think Alexandria could win her seat. VERY liberal district in NY.

And the funniest thing I saw in the last day or so was a typical LIB clown show at the West Hollywood City Council meeting. They voted unanimously to have Trump's star removed from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. One problem. Trump's star isn't in their jurisdiction. Their vote has as much authority as board members at Bangkok Bank voting to do the same. 55555

Makes me wonder how they feel about Spacey's star or Cosby's star. Maybe there should be a morals investigation into every star there. :) LIBs have a way of ignoring their own messes. They are usually only concerned about what Republicans/Conservatives do.

Yes, the trade war already occurred. It was against the US, and the US has been losing for many years. Same with NATO. Same with the UN. We end up putting up more money than the rest, and in return have to put up with all the bullshiggity. I hope that things can level off and be more fair.

Personal insults are usually thrown by people when there logical arguments have failed.
I thought this forum was moderated, obviously one rule for one , and a different rule for another, very much like the MSM.
