Big C discounts

We have decided to do a monthly shop, we live a good 15 minute drive to the Big C supermarket Nittayo and it's bit of a pain, we don't like using the U turn outside Makro and hence the new regime. We made our list, did the shopping and our bill came to 7200 baht (about £170) which included 30 days dog food, toiletries, meat, a case of beers, 8 bottles of cider and everything else we use, which we though was pretty good. When we got to check out, we got an unexpected 650 baht discount and a pack of 24 toilet rolls worth another 150 baht! The girl kept stopping and we had to pay four times I think it was but what's the problem with that? So all in all we got 12% off of what is a very cheap shop anyway, just like Tesco and Asda back home, yes I'm being facetious.

Just as a footnote, the refurbishment is still mid throw and everything is everywhere, you have to hunt around for stuff but it's all there.

I beg to differ about it being all there ! Am i the only one to notice that they seem to have stopped stocking Casino brand products ? They used to have a enormous selection of their stuff , only for it all to be whittled away.
No more pates , hams, pizzas, quiches, a few frozen veg and a few biscuits left , most of it on discount .
Good products i thought , their duck liver pate especially.
So where are they ?

Plenty of it here in Chiang Mai in Big C. However Rimping supermarket offers ten times the range of products that Big C or Tops does in Chiang Mai.

There are still some Casinos lines but they put signs up over a year ago saying that the relationship with them had changed and that there would be less lines available in future, that's nothing to do with the refurb. The pizzas are there, they were moved over to another freezer, but, the range has decreased, they didn't have the goats cheese one or the supreme, they had Hawaiian and salmon though and a new thinner crust one. The pate has been missing for about six weeks, we bought some back then but not seen it since, I did notice the selection of biscuits has shrunk a bit though.

good to see Big C are still allowing this Tesco now restrict the discount to 1 per club card as I live very close to the old Tesco I will stick to that but worth noting if doing a big shop although I know the offers are sporadic and although I was promised updates by big C to my mobile I have never got one yet

Good news , for me anyway . Just got back from Big C and now they have the fridge and freezers sorted out , Casino brand pates hams and other processed meats are in stock again .
The place does now resemble some sort of organisation . The bad news it was packed with loud mouthed , ignorant Chinese.

Understand Big C has been getting new freezers etc but Retailers are not stupid they move things about constantly so that you spend more time browsing and buy more than you actually planned.

The Big C special discounts had the place packed to the rafters yesterday (Monday). I don't think I've ever seen the parking lot and every curb completely full of cars as it was yesterday.. With discounts and a split pay to get a discount off the receipt (per the cashier) we saved several hundred baht yesterday.. I'll be glad when the renovation at the old Big C on the east side is finished so I can figure out where everything is located.. again...

Another bonus of the remodeling and new freezers ect , is the meat counter area no longer smells like an old horse thats been ridden hard , and stabled wet.
