How to download bbc radio progs from bbc iPlayer

Can anyone explain how to download radio progs from the bbc iPlayer onto my iPhone 7 Plus- if it can be done at all
I’ve googled & you tubed but cannot understand WTF they are talking about

with BBC IPlayer you need a VPN (simple terms this is an app that shows your phone or computer etc in a different country i.e. live in Thailand but phone shows as being in UK) You can pay for one or download one free on Google play.

You said you want to download audio and that seems to be the way to do it.

However if you want to download the programs without listening to them or playing them then the copy protection will not permit that.

The only feasible way that I know of is to play the audio and record that, there are a a number of computer programs that let you do that
