Kevin Hassett, Chairman of Trump's Council of Economic Advisors, tries to educate the masses on the economy, China and the shutdown.

Looks like there are reasons to be optimistic all the way around.

The only ones not optimistic are the cheerleaders for failure.

US-China trade talks wrap up in Beijing as hopes of a deal build
Originally scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, the negotiations were extended by a day amid signs of progress on issues including purchases of U.S. farm and energy commodities and increased access to China’s markets.
In what is widely seen as a goodwill gesture, China on Tuesday issued long-awaited approvals for the import of five genetically modified crops, which could boost its purchases of U.S. grains as farmers decide which crops to plant in the spring.

On Monday, Chinese importers made another large purchase of U.S. soybeans, their third in the past month.
The only ones not hoping for success are the cheerleaders for failure.

Good news!
Gao Feng, a spokesman for China's Commerce Ministry, said Thursday afternoon that the length of the meeting indicated that both sides were serious and honest. He added that the structural issues that made progress during the talks included forced tech transfers and the protection of intellectual property rights.

Another signal that experts cheered: China's top trade negotiator Liu He reportedly stopped by the negotiating room on Monday, which was unexpected given that the talks were just meant to be held at the vice-ministerial level.

The cheerleaders for failure aren't going to like this at all.

According to Bureau of Labor Statistics, consumer prices have hardly moved as a result of Trump's tariffs.

The Cheerleaders for Failure often repeat their propaganda that “tariffs are taxes on consumers,” but consumers in the US aren't feeling it. Probably due to a self-sustaining economy large enough to alter buying habits and alter supply lines quickly.

In the 4th Q of 2018, the Treasury collected $8 billion in tariffs (gee, that would pay for Trump's border security request), which is 83% more year over year. But the Department of Labor’s consumer price index was just 1.9 percent higher year over year. Month by month, prices actually fell.

Don't you read, the Chinese front loaded their goods to avoid the tariffs . Helped by those diabolical Libs factory owners that wanted stock components before further tariff increase, add to that the drop in the Chinese currency and hey presto much cheaper Chinese goods ,and a hell of a increase in imports. the pain comes later

China always ahead.

The EU will impose quotas on 26 product categories and levy a 25% duty on imports exceeding those quotas, the executive arm said on Wednesday. The move cements proposals laid out last July with the stated aim of protecting European steelmakers amid Chinese overcapacity.
