The reality in Thailand is that a handful of very rich and powerful families control everything and I mean everything. They will never allow this to happen.vincemunday wrote: ↑February 8, 2019, 1:01 pmI'm quite pleased, I think the Princess will perhaps be a little more farang friendly, the royal family have travelled to Europe and America extensively, some are even married to Americans I believe, fingers crossed.

Then to both of you.. Why say anything at all. I guess boredom is the cause.Lone Star wrote: ↑February 9, 2019, 9:13 amWell said.glalt wrote: ↑February 9, 2019, 9:04 amAs an ex-pat, I obviously have no input on who runs the Thai government and I don't care. What I see here upcountry in the boonies is that there are a lot of new vehicles on the road and there is new construction going up everywhere. Highways are being made into four lanes. I do blame the local politicians for the conditions of secondary roads that are full of potholes while all the money is being spent on main roads. I do appreciate that I pay no taxes on my condo and very little on my wife's farmland and home. There are no violent demonstrations and no highways being blocked by demonstrators. Life here in Thailand is good for me. I have to jump through some hoops to be able to stay but I feel these obstacles are a cheap price to pay for the benefits. I always have the option to go back to my home country or elsewhere. Nothing is forcing me to live in Thailand. I do see some expats who are basically trapped here because they have put all their eggs in one basket. That is the result of their own stupidity.

Perhaps you should take your own advice? I can't see that your post is very helpful.Natas wrote: ↑February 10, 2019, 2:51 pmThen to both of you.. Why say anything at all. A thought has been planted in the minds of voters, which they will not forget.

Loans which were paid back with interest, mass demonstrations, shootings, bribery at the elections. Maybe you were on another planet at that time.jai yen yen wrote: ↑February 11, 2019, 12:04 amYou mean the ones that brought medical, affordable loans for farmers, Democracy and happy people to the country?

Re: Upcoming Election on 24 March
Ignorance is not always bliss, do so real research. Everything is controlled and planned. The wealthy elite control the government, military and any other institution in Thailand. Thaksin went against the grain and rocked their boat. He did many good things for the common people as well as for himself like all politicians, especially the Thai politicians. The majority of the country was happy with their government and had no reason to protest, it was the elite behind all the problems because they could not get rid of Thaksin in a fair election so the protests were organized and the elite side was allowed to do what they wanted by the military and police. Eventually it became chaos as was planned. In steps the heros with the guns and they have control again. Do not buy into the propaganda that is being spread by the rich. All they care about is retaining their wealth and power and will do anything to keep it, anything.Wee Jimmy wrote: ↑February 11, 2019, 3:26 amLoans which were paid back with interest, mass demonstrations, shootings, bribery at the elections. Re: Upcoming Election on 24 March
It is about competing Sino-Thai elites. If one looks at the members of Parliament over the past 20 years or so, you will see Chinese, not Thai, faces in government.

You have a lot to learn about Thailand if you can learn. You certainly will not learn from me so I will leave you to it.Wee Jimmy wrote: ↑February 12, 2019, 7:39 amI see the average Thai and a lot of them seem to manage well.
