Re: Democrats, Republicans and Elections
Other information of Amazon withdrawing
"But local opposition was fervent from the beginning. Lawmakers resented being excluded from negotiations for the deal, and decried the $3 billion in government subsidies offered to a company run by Jeff Bezos, the world’s richest man, while the city itself is facing budget cuts. Community groups feared rising rents in the neighborhood would push out long-time residents, and that the influx of workers would strain an already overburdened subway system."
If Amazon wants to employ another 25,000 it wont be in New York just another place like Northern Virginia, Nashville, Toronto where ever
BUT again the 25,000 jobs are not lost or killed as some report
So why so much talk

The same article from which you selectively quoted. GUILTY.With several polls showing that a majority of New Yorkers favored Amazon’s arrival, de Blasio had previously suggested that those officials could face their own backlash come the next elections. Indeed, many of the people who reacted to Ocasio-Cortez’s tweet expressed anger.
25,000 jobs lost to the NYC area. THAT is why so much talk, and the criticism is coming from other Democrats in NY who recognized the benefit of all of those jobs that are going elsewhere. Those 25,000 gainfully employed people buy things and pay state sales taxes when they buy things. That is lost revenue for the state and lost revenue for every merchant where those 25,000 would shop.

This came up earlier with the current administration when EO's and rule by fiat were, shall we say, less contentious? With all this recycled 'But Obama!...' malarkey, why is DJT hell-bent on emulating his nemesis? I mean beyond maneuvering around a legislative body he can't control?

Re: Will Trump make the Grade.
The actions taken by Trump were given to the president -- long before he was ever president -- by the Congress in legislation; and I'm not referring to the National Emergency. These are authorities granted to the POTUS by Congress to move funds around within departments of the Executive Branch and under the authority of the POTUS. Trump is using the new funding for the wall, those powers to re-appropriate funds and the National Emergency declaration to achieve relief on the border.tamada wrote: ↑February 16, 2019, 9:43 amThis came up earlier with the current administration when EO's and rule by fiat were, shall we say, less contentious? These are NOT Executive Orders as Obama used. You need to read up.
And by the way, Bayrack used these same executive powers to move money around during his administration, and no one as much as sneezed.

If that's all you got, you can own that as your argument against everything Trump is doing to secure the southern border.

“They came in, they proudly, unabashedly told us they wanted to work with ICE to deport undocumented immigrants in this country.”
- Senator Michael Gianaris
"They" is Amazon.
So we have some local activists and Democrat members of Congress wanting Amazon to subvert the federal immigration law to win activist's approval for the new Amazon facility.

Re: Democrats, Republicans and Elections
Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, from the district where Amazon was going to build their new facility. She ain't happy AT ALL. She outlines all the benefits that Amazon was going to add to the community and points out that 25,000 jobs was the MINIMUM.
She begs the question: 'We used to protest wars, and now we protest jobs?!?'
Dems like Oc-Co Loco are helping Trump, and even other Dems are starting to realize it.

Now the others, Town Cities in the US who have $3 Billion lying around can give Amazon a call and get 25,000 jobs for their hometown. There a celebration rather than condemning people
As for New York and all the Senators and Governor and 81% or whatever and whoever else had the lollipop taken away forget it and move on as you have had your 15 minutes on CNBC, FOX, Huffington etc
Why is no one from Amazon getting lambasted for pulling out?

Re: Will Trump make the Grade.
Who's arguing?
Regardless of nationality, race and religion, whenever a leader is unpopular enough that he or she has to resort to bully pit tactics to force their will on an electorate, the sum gain is less than two-fifths of bugger all.

Re: Will Trump make the Grade.
Does it bother you that America is prepared to defend its borders primarily because your country was unwilling and unable to defend its borders and now resembles a cross between Sierre Leone and Lahore?

You're entitled to your opinion.
Because you characterize it all in the way that you do, it shows that you have about a 2% idea of what's going on. I suspect, that you really do know and understand what's going on. You're just trolling. Unlike those in the brigade, you're not ignorant.
Have a great weekend!
