Europe’s banks are set for a difficult earnings season

Source: CNBC
Big European banks are set to report their first-quarter earnings starting next week and some investors fear that poor report cards could lead to further volatility in the stock markets.

Several analysts have raised concerns over earnings this quarter due to external challenges such as low economic growth, uncertainty over a U.S.-China trade deal, Brexit and a U-turn on major central bank policy toward more easing.
OMG! You mean that international markets are actually connected and affect each other?!?!?!? That's not what those brigadiers act like happens. Just think how badly world markets would be if the US economy was showing signs of the same downward trajectory. Yes, international markets are connected. It's true.
Daniel Morris, senior investment strategist at BNP Paribas, told CNBC Monday that results among European corporates in the fourth quarter of 2018 was weak.

“It was one of the lowest you had in a long time. We really didn’t notice because we were recovering from the end of December and you had the (Federal Reserve) and so on. Now, we have digested the Fed, I think we have priced in most of the (U.S.-China) trade deal so earnings are going to matter this time. And if we have such minimal beats over expectations, and of course as we know expectations are very low for this quarter, I think markets are not going to be happy with that,” Morris told CNBC’s “Squawk Box Europe.”

European banks are suffering from years of weak profits, massive fines, ultra-low monetary policy and uncertainty surrounding the U.K.’s exit from the European Union. The U.S. banks, on the other hand, especially the big ones like J.P. Morgan and Citi have very strong retail operations that have kept them resilient in the face of economic headwinds.
Amazing that US banks have not suffered the same fate -- considering all those tariffs that should have had a 20th century result. But we're in the 21st century now. America has had an uncanny ability to be self-sustaining because of its resources, population size, ingenuity, exceptionalism and ability to adjust its supply lines quickly.

Spain Bans Anti-Mass Migration Populists from TV Debates

Source: Spain's Central Election Board

Globalists do all they can to stifle speech.

Santiago Abascal has called to “make Spain great again.” It was ordered that he be dropped from the televised debate. Despite leading what could be the third largest party with 11% of the vote in the latest polls.

It should be pointed out that the same election board gave special consideration to to leftist parties with no representation.

Santiago Abascal:
First they tried to manipulate our message in the media, then they sent the hooded vanguard of [Antifa activists] to attack us physically, and now they censor us to prevent Spaniards from hearing us.

It’s clear who calls the shots still in Spain: the separatists. Until April 28. Because a great victory for #LongLiveSpain will see those parties who wish to destroy our co-existence, constitution and homeland banned.
The globalists are on the ropes in the EU.

Liberty is contagious.

https://www.euronews.com/2019/04/19/gre ... eparations

Greek lawmakers voted on Wednesday to give a mandate to the government to seek reparations from Germany for the Nazi occupation during World War II, a move likely to exacerbate relations with Berlin.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras told lawmakers that demanding reparations is "a historic and moral duty in memory of the heroes of the past...above all at a time when the extreme right, nationalism, and racism threaten Europe."

The vote, the first by parliament on the emotionally-charged issue, has tasked Tsipras' government to take "every appropriate legal and diplomatic action to satisfy Greece's demands."

Wednesday's proposal mentioned no figure but Greece's General Accounting Office estimated in 2015 that Germany owed it €278.7 billion in reparations with an additional €10.3 billion to reimburse a wartime forced loan.

The vote followed an election pledge by Tsipras in 2015 and comes ahead of national elections scheduled in October.

Paris to Hire Security Guards to Patrol Unsafe Public Spaces

Source: Le Parisien

Various public spaces in Paris are deemed unsafe -- especially for women, who are often threatened and harrassed by migrant men who camp out in these public spaces.

Security has been hired to patrol public squares, subway stations and other public areas that have become dangerous due to migrant campers.

Believe it or not, Paris has organized food distribution to their migrant campers, but had to discontinue it due to the violent fights that became more and more numerous.

France is gone.

European Parliament Poll predicts Populist Surge

Source: Parliament Polling

Those parties that support populism, are against mass migration and against the EU's oppressive rules have been predicted to improve their positions in the EU Parliament.

Even though there is an anticipated improvement of populists in the EU Parliament, it seems doubtful that they will unseat the top parties.

Merkel's party is expected to be the largest faction again. However, predictions indicate that the Socialists and Democrats will lose around 40 seats.

Macron's allies fear a globalist collapse.

With the new Brexit Party making huge polling gains in only a week, there is much to anticipate in the May elections.

More flack headed Merkel's way over her open borders in Germany and calling for it throughout the EU. This time it's coming from Joachim Wundrak, a former 3-star general running for mayor of Hanover. He was a former member of Merkel's CDU party. Wundrak is now a member of the AfD party.

Wundrak is putting the blame squarely on Merkel for all of the problems that migration has brought.

Wundrak:
"Anyone who confesses to supporting the AfD is bullied and marginalised. They also get into the focus of Antifa.

“Merkel has sworn an oath to Germany, but she already has a problem talking about a German people. She prefers to speak of ‘population’. Many German politicians struggle to profess their own nation.

“The protection of one’s own borders is no longer a priority goal. Germany is giving more and more sovereignty to the EU, the European Central Bank, to supranational organisations. I do not agree with this. The nation-state is the primary form of organisation for Germany. Where structures become too big, an undemocratic spirit quickly arises.”
Wundrak is now squarely in the crosshairs -- literally -- of Antifa, which targets AfD politicos, even for assassinations.

Germany hasn't had "open borders" for refugees since July 2018, when Merkel abandoned the policy.

So just explain how refugees and illegal economic immigrants can travel throughout Mainland Europe getting from their points of illegal entry (normally, Greece and Italy and end up in the suburbs of Paris and on France's northern coast trying to jump on any truck or boat they can to get to the UK. There are no internal border checks in the Central EU Utopia.

The strongest economy in the EU is in trouble.

German banks are struggling due to the persistently low interest rates from European Central Banks. The low interest rates directly affect bank profits and lending.

While Stoxx Europe banks have fallen 45% over the past ten years, the KBE bank electronically traded fund that tracks banks in the US has added 86%.

Globalism rears its head again, but it is affecting Germany's Main Street due to lack of strength and dependence on trade for self-sufficiency. Every negative event around the world has an effect on a local economy that depends on trade.

More bad economic news for Germany and the EU.

There are conditions that must exist for a recession to be on the horizon. The most important is that there must be two straight quarters (six months) of negative growth. Industrial production is one of the main market drivers in an economy. So are industrial orders. Both are falling in Germany. The second quarter saw a 0.1% decline in GDP.

Deutsche Bank has already listed Germany as being "in a technical recession."

With Germany's economy heavily dependent upon exports, there are forever in a position of Main Street weakness if events outside of Germany turn south.

The emissions standards imposed on automobiles has put an added burden on Germany's large auto industry.

However, there are some good numbers in Germany's economy that may keep them out of dire trouble. Labor is strong. Unemployment is low. Main Street is still buying. So like the US, the media is harping on recession without all the data pointing in that direction. Interesting.

The ECB is doing their best to prop up the EU and announced possible rate cuts and bond purchases.

Changing of the guard in Italy.

Conte has resigned.

The populist movement in Italy, which is a key EU economy, seems to be gaining ground.

Salvini is a nationalist, a populist, pro-borders, "Italy First" patriot, who seems to be very popular with Italians.

By coincidence, Nancy Pelosi was over there dabbling in Italian politics. US Democrats are aligned with globalists, and they're doing all they can to upset Trump's de-globalization efforts. Trump has bypassed the "resist" Democrats by getting assistance from foreign countries to get his trade and immigration policies in place. For these reasons, Salvini will not be an easy ascension to lead the Italian government. US Democrats don't want Salvini in charge.
